Vis is the most remote of the larger Dalmatian islands (60 km off the coast). A military restricted zone until 1989, the island is today an untouched insider tip - the Blue Cave on Biševo, Tito's wartime hideout and the fishing village of Komiža define Vis.

Brač is the third-largest Adriatic island - famous for its white marble (parts of the White House in Washington were clad with it) and for Zlatni Rat ("Golden Horn") beach, a sand spit reaching out into the sea that shifts its shape with the currents.
