Purpose-Built for the Poles
Silver Endeavour was completed in 2021 as a purpose-built polar expedition vessel designed to set a new standard at the intersection of expedition capability and premium accommodation. With a PC6 ice-class hull rating – one of the highest in the passenger ship industry – she can navigate pack ice and polar channels that softer-hulled vessels cannot safely enter, opening itinerary options in the high Arctic and the deep Antarctic that simply do not exist for other ships.
220 guests travel in all-suite accommodation with a crew of 207 – a crew-to-guest ratio of very nearly one-to-one, which shows immediately in the quality and consistency of service on board.
Expedition Credentials
The Zodiac fleet, the specialist team of naturalists and historians, and the ratio of expedition staff to guests are, according to Silversea, among the highest in the industry. The Mud Room – a practical feature borrowed from expedition ship design – is where guests kit out in appropriate polar clothing and footwear before each landing. The Explorer Lounge and Observation Lounge are the places for pre-landing briefings and post-excursion discussions; both look outward, with broad views of whatever the ship is sailing through.
Itinerary coverage spans both poles: Norwegian fjords, Svalbard, and Greenland in the Arctic summer; Antarctica, South Georgia, and the South Sandwich Islands in the southern summer.
Dining and Social Spaces
Five dining venues operate on board: The Restaurant covers the full daily programme; Il Terrazzino is the Italian speciality; La Dame brings French fine dining; the poolside Grill handles lighter meals; Arts Cafe provides pastries, snacks, and informal daytime eating. All are included. The Otium Spa, fitness centre, pool, library, and Connoisseur’s Corner (Silversea’s dedicated cigar lounge) round out the public spaces.
Accommodation
All 110 suites carry butler service. Veranda suites with private balconies form the core of the accommodation. The ship’s Owner’s Suites are situated to maximise views; their occupants have access to the full butler service and concierge level that Silversea maintains across the fleet, adapted to the expedition context where formal dress is irrelevant and practicality takes precedence.
