ivent sailing is a tour operator, not simply a booking office for journeys. Since 2008 it has been our mission to encourage people to make their dreams real: the dream of sailing, the dream of exploring the world by ship. Whether young or experienced, whether woman or man, whether on your own or as a couple, whether a modest or a generous budget. For everyone there is the right experience at sea. Life is now.
2008The beginning: an idea at the chart table
The vision was simple and uncompromising: to offer premium sailing voyages not from a catalogue but shaped by our own experience. Those who sail under wind themselves know what matters to guests. What sea state should you expect in the region? What are the differences between the individual cabins? What is the cuisine on board like? We wanted to answer these questions first-hand, not from a travel brochure.
From this grew a motto that has accompanied us from the first day: Sailing for connoisseurs. What it means to savour something each person knows for themselves: a luxury voyage with a life partner, an Atlantic crossing on your own, a charter yacht with the family, a race on a speed yacht. Our task is not to prescribe a way of savouring, but to make each person’s own version possible.
2008The first regatta on the Baltic
The first autumn regatta in 2008 launched a tradition that would span twelve years and twenty-five regattas: twice a year, crews from Germany and Switzerland sailed for two challenge trophies, one for the spring regatta and one for the autumn regatta. A close-knit community, shared voyages, sometimes heavy weather, always stories for the evening and the most beautiful sunrises over the Baltic. The winners and highlights of all twenty-five regattas have their own page.
2010sGrowth and connections
During the 2010s, ivent-sailing grew beyond its pioneering phase. With the build-up of our offices came the structures that a growing clientele deserved: dedicated points of contact, clear processes, a carefully curated selection of ships.
In parallel, our network of partners and fleets expanded. Alongside the original Tallship and Sailing Classics tradition came Star Clippers, Sea Cloud, then Ponant and Silversea, each new fleet carefully vetted, with a direct line to the management and to the crews. A particularly memorable moment came in 2013 with the official naming ceremony of the sailing yacht Chronos with Sailing Classics in Didim.
As exhibitors at ITB Berlin and at regional boat shows, as trade visitors at countless tourism industry fairs, at the meetings of the charter companies, on professional visits to the yacht shows in Cannes and Monaco, on many journeys to the ships and to the destinations with site inspections of countless hotels, ivent-sailing established itself as a fixture in the premium segment.
201810 years of ivent-sailing
In 2018 we celebrated our tenth anniversary, proud of what had been achieved and with a clear view ahead. In the anniversary year, Eric Neumann (spring) and Andreas Vocke (autumn) won the challenge trophies. In 2019 preparations began for the major events at sea for our clients Boston Consulting Group and HDI.
2020Pandemic and strategic focus
The Covid crisis hit the travel industry hard. For ivent-sailing it was both a test and a turning point. We used the time to sharpen our portfolio and to bring new fleets on board: Ponant and Silversea have since covered the luxury expedition segment, with voyages to the polar regions and individually tailored journey experiences beyond the classic mass-tourism routes.
The Baltic regattas ended in 2020, a tradition whose time had come and which lives on in our Wall of Fame.
todayPremium sailing and luxury cruises
In 2026 we organise voyages on more than 60 ships worldwide. From the 12-guest catamaran in the Aegean and classic tallships through to polar expeditions on the icebreaker Le Commandant Charcot.
We have experienced almost every one of these ships ourselves. With the fleets, the owners and the crews we maintain a personal connection. What interests us is not the number of ships on our list, but the depth of the relationships behind every recommendation.
We do not own these ships, and that is precisely our advantage. We know the soul of each ship, each route, each fleet. And we can afford to advise every guest in such a way that they find their experience at sea. Not the next one from the catalogue, but theirs.
Yacht charter
Worldwide, we can draw on a pool of thousands of yachts. Here, too, we do not simply hand over a yacht. We know the differences between the brands, the individual model lines and the cabin configurations. At many yacht shows and on shipyard visits we have built up contacts with manufacturers, naval architects and designers.
We have helped people make their dream real: sailing around the world on a catamaran with a large family. Projects like these do not come out of a catalogue. They grow out of conversations, out of understanding the family’s situation, out of knowing which yacht truly suits them. And such projects require trust, which has to be earned.
We are a member of Der Mittelstand.BVMW, of the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany (BCCG) and of the Allianz Selbstaendiger Reiseunternehmen (ASR). Our customer funds are protected through R+V Allgemeine Versicherung.
What drives us is not the selling of journeys, but the making of dreams possible. Life is now. Do not wait.
