Sister to Silver Dawn
Silver Moon entered service in 2020 as the immediate predecessor to Silver Dawn, sharing the same layout, guest count, and core design philosophy. Both ships carry 596 guests with a crew of 411, and both incorporate the S.A.L.T. programme – Silversea’s most considered innovation in recent years – as a central element of the on-board experience. Guests who know one ship will find the other immediately familiar in organisation if not always identical in detail.
The combination of all-suite accommodation, butler service, and eight dining venues at a guest capacity of 596 produces a ship that manages to feel spacious without tipping into the impersonality that affects some larger premium vessels.
S.A.L.T. Kitchen and the Destination on Your Plate
The Sea And Land Taste initiative responds to the observation that most cruise ship food – however well prepared – has no particular relationship to where the ship is. On Silver Moon, the S.A.L.T. Kitchen changes its menu in response to the current itinerary, sourcing regional ingredients and recipes that reflect the port of call or the broader destination. The S.A.L.T. Bar applies the same logic to cocktails; S.A.L.T. Lab runs cookery sessions for interested guests; S.A.L.T. Shore Excursions organise visits to food producers, markets, and artisans ashore.
It is an integrated concept and one of the more substantive additions to premium cruising in recent years.
Dining Across Eight Venues
Alongside S.A.L.T. Kitchen and S.A.L.T. Bar, Silver Moon carries The Restaurant for the full daily menu, La Terrazza for Italian, Kaiseki for Japanese, Spaccanapoli for Neapolitan pizza and antipasti, La Dame for French fine dining, the poolside Grill, and Silver Note for dinner with live jazz. All are included in the voyage fare – no cover charges apply at any venue.
Accommodation
All suites include butler service and a veranda or larger outdoor space. The entry-level Classic Veranda Suite is the most widely booked; the top Owner’s Suites at the front and rear of higher decks add a sitting room, dining area, and substantially larger terrace. Wi-Fi, drinks, gratuities, and transfers (within the Silversea Door-to-Door option) are all included.
Itineraries
Silver Moon operates a global programme with particular emphasis on Mediterranean, Caribbean, and South American routes. Her size allows berthing at major city ports as well as a range of smaller harbours. Silversea’s booking structure allows the entire trip – flights, pre-cruise hotel, transfers, and the voyage itself – to be arranged through a single booking.
