I wanted to capture the feeling of the old explorers for myself — riding the trade winds westward. That's why it had to be a traditional tall ship. The Oosterschelde was exactly right: a handsome vessel where seamanship is kept alive, a three-mast topsail schooner with just the right rig for this voyage, and a wonderful regular crew.
