Sicily and Adriatic, Syracuse to Cavtat
From Syracuse to Cavtat this yacht voyage runs from Sicily across the Adriatic to southern Dalmatia. Scenic stops alternate with longer passages, some at night, along the southern Italian coast.
Highlights
- Syracuse: the ancient island of Ortigia with its Greek heritage.
- Etna: Europe’s highest active volcano rising above Sicily’s east coast.
- Taormina: the terraced town with its ancient theatre and sea views.
- Apulia: the heel of Italy with its port towns and Adriatic coastline.
A yacht voyage with beautiful stops for watersports and time ashore, but also longer legs sailed in part through the night. For everyone who enjoys the sailing itself.
The Route

Cavtat
How the route could go:
-
Syracuse (Sicily) · Embarkation
Syracuse on the east coast of Sicily was once among the most powerful cities of Greek antiquity. The old-town island of Ortygia, with its Temple of Apollo and the Arethusa spring, forms its historic heart.
-
Mount Etna
-
Taormina
Taormina sits on a rocky spur above the Ionian Sea and is regarded as the loveliest spot in Sicily. The Greek-Roman theatre with Mount Etna in the background is one of the most spectacular ancient settings; ships moor at Giardini-Naxos at the foot of the hill.
-
Apulia
-
Cavtat · Disembarkation
Cavtat lies 20 km south of Dubrovnik on a curved bay. The former ancient Epidaurum with remains of the Roman aqueduct, the elegant seafront promenade and the Račić Mausoleum (Ivan Meštrović) make Cavtat the quieter alternative to Dubrovnik.
The route of a sailing voyage may change without giving rise to mutual claims.
