The Voyage

Nuuk (Godthåb) → Reykjavík

From Nuuk along the central west coast of Greenland to Disko Bay, then south through Prince Christian Sound and back to Reykjavík. Fifteen nights tracing the season's transition from winter to spring: icebergs calving in their thousands, the first humpback whales returning, settlements emerging from polar night.

PONANT in Motion

© PONANT

This PONANT film offers a vivid impression of life aboard Le Commandant Charcot - onboard laboratories, panoramic observation areas and the extraordinary destinations that only this icebreaker reaches. This voyage follows the same spirit of polar discovery.

Early booking advantage: Voyages in 2027 fill quickly - premium cabins are often reserved 18-24 months in advance. An early booking enquiry is non-binding and secures your preferred cabin category.

Nuuk (Godthåb) Nuuk Baffin Bay Sisimiut Narsarsuaq Qaqortoq Uunartoq Aappilattoq Prince Christian Sound Reykjavík
10 of 11 ports located · approx. 3,630 nautical miles
  • Nuuk · Embarkation

Nuuk is the capital of Greenland and, with 19,000 inhabitants, the largest town on the island. The colourful wooden houses by the harbour, the Greenland National Museum with the Qilakitsoq mummies (500 years old, perfectly preserved women and an infant) and the setting between fjords and icebergs make Nuuk unique.

  • Entdeckung des Baffinmeers
  • Diskobucht

Disko Bay on Greenland's west coast is famed for the icebergs drifting in from the Ilulissat Icefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Humpback whales and the Inuit town of Ilulissat shape this Arctic experience.

  • Diskoinsel
  • Sisimiut

Sisimiut is Greenland's second-largest town, known for its traditional kayak-building craft and dog-sledding tradition. The old colonial building, the Lutheran cathedral with its red wooden bell tower and the Arctic fjord panorama make Sisimiut one of the most authentic Greenland stops.

  • Entdeckung des Baffinmeers
  • Region Narsarsuaq
  • Qaqortoq

On a sheltered bay on the south-western coast of Greenland, this largest town of South Greenland is composed like a Nordic pastel painting with its brightly coloured wooden houses. Around 40 sculptures carved into local granite as part of the Stone and Man art project are scattered throughout the town.

  • Uunartoq

Uunartoq is an uninhabited island in southern Greenland within the Sermersooq fjord system. Three natural hot springs on the edge of the Atlantic make it an unusual bathing spot in the Arctic.

  • Erkundung des Prins Christian Sund
  • Aappilattoq (Augpilatok)

Aappilattoq is an Inuit settlement of around 100 inhabitants on Prince Christian Sound in the far south of Greenland. Wedged between sheer cliffs, it is reachable only by helicopter or boat and remains icebound for months in winter.
