The Route

The exact route is set by the expedition team on site, depending on ice and weather:

Flight included – this voyage is offered as a complete package with charter or scheduled flight, transfers and accommodation. See "Package Voyage" below for details.

  • Nuuk (Godthåb) · Embarkation

Nuuk is the capital of Greenland on the south-west coast of the island. With around 18,000 inhabitants it is the country's largest town.

  • Nuuk

Nuuk is the capital of Greenland and, with 19,000 inhabitants, the largest town on the island. The colourful wooden houses by the harbour, the Greenland National Museum with the Qilakitsoq mummies (500 years old, perfectly preserved women and an infant) and the setting between fjords and icebergs make Nuuk unique.

  • Baffin Bay

Baffin Bay stretches between Greenland and Canada's Baffin Island and forms part of the Arctic Ocean. Drifting icebergs, polar bears and narwhals make these waters one of the most spectacular wilderness regions in the Arctic.

  • Disko Bay

Disko Bay is a bay on the west coast of Greenland, renowned for its icebergs.

  • Sisimiut

Sisimiut is Greenland's second-largest town, known for its traditional kayak-building craft and dog-sledding tradition. The old colonial building, the Lutheran cathedral with its red wooden bell tower and the Arctic fjord panorama make Sisimiut one of the most authentic Greenland stops.

  • Narsarsuaq

Narsarsuaq lies at the head of a fjord in southern Greenland. The town is home to an important airport with North Atlantic connections.

  • Qaqortoq

Qaqortoq is the largest town in southern Greenland. It lies on a sheltered bay and is known for its colourful houses and stone sculptures throughout the town.

  • Uunartoq

Uunartoq is an uninhabited island in southern Greenland with natural hot springs.

  • Aappilattoq

Aappilattoq is a small Inuit settlement on Prince Christian Sound in southern Greenland.

  • Prince Christian Sound

Prince Christian Sound is a strait in south-eastern Greenland connecting the Atlantic with the Labrador Sea. It is flanked by steep mountains and glaciers.

  • Reykjavík · Disembarkation

The world's northernmost capital is the starting point for Iceland's wonders: geysers, volcanoes, glaciers and northern lights. The creative, compact city with the striking Hallgrímskirkja offers excellent cuisine and a surprisingly lively cultural scene.

Why ivent-sailing

We know the sea — we have sailed many regions ourselves as skippers.

That is what makes our advice different: we know how geographic conditions shape the maritime experience, how that translates for you as a guest depending on your place on the ship, what sea conditions to expect in which season, what makes a quiet anchor bay special, and which cabin on which ship is worth the upgrade. Our recommendations come from the water, not from a brochure.
