Lisbon to Valletta
This ten-night voyage aboard Le Lapérouse links the Iberian Atlantic coast with the western Mediterranean and ends on Malta. The 184-guest Explorer-class ship passes through the Strait of Gibraltar and calls at the Balearics, Sardinia and the Aeolian Islands off Sicily. On the volcanic Aeolians the sixteen Zodiacs come into their own, exploring sheer cliffs and sea caves. The Blue Eye underwater lounge in the bow opens a window onto Mediterranean marine life. Full board, beverages and excursions are part of the premium all-inclusive concept.
Route highlights
- Lisbon: capital on the Tagus with the Belém Tower and the Fado quarters.

Lissabon · Embarkation
Built on seven hills, Lisbon blends a southern European sense of life with a great history of discovery. From the Tower of Belém, Vasco da Gama and other navigators set out into the unknown - yellow trams and the melancholic Fado still tell the tale today.
-
Portimão
Portimão on the Algarve was a Phoenician settlement and is today one of Portugal's best-known sardine-grilling spots. Praia da Rocha, the spectacular cliffs of Ponta da Piedade in Lagos and the hinterland of cork oak forests define the region.
-
Cádiz
Cádiz is regarded as the longest continuously inhabited city in western Europe (founded by the Phoenicians around 1,100 BC). The "tacita de plata" (silver cup) lies on a peninsula in the Atlantic - golden La Caleta beach, old city walls and the largest cathedral in Andalusia.

-
Ibiza, Balearen
Ibiza's old town Dalt Vila is a fully preserved Renaissance fortress on a hill and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. Beyond the nightlife, the island surprises with lavender fields, authentic fishing villages and the Ses Salines nature reserve with its flamingo-inhabited salt pans.
-
Mahón, Balearen
-
Alghero, Sardinien
Alghero in north-western Sardinia carries the nickname "Little Barcelona" - Catalan influences shape its architecture and language. Excursions lead to the Grotta di Nettuno, one of the most impressive stalactite caves in the Mediterranean, reached by boat or via 654 steps.
-
At sea
-
Lipari, Liparische Inseln
Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian Islands and the administrative seat. The ancient acropolis with the Archaeological Museum (one of the finest in the Mediterranean) and the pumice quarries in the north, which colour the sea chalk-white, are highlights.
-
Trapani, Sizilien
Trapani is the gateway for excursions to Segesta (a Doric temple from the 5th century BC set in remote uplands) and to the ruins of Selinunte. The Saline di Trapani - sprawling salt pans with historic windmills - form a unique landscape on Sicily's western shore.
