The Route

The exact route is set by the expedition team on site, depending on ice and weather:

Flight included – this voyage is offered as a complete package with charter or scheduled flight, transfers and accommodation. See "Package Voyage" below for details.

  • Longyearbyen · Embarkation

Longyearbyen on Svalbard is the world's northernmost town with a permanent civilian population (78° N). The former coal-mining settlement is today the gateway to the Arctic - dog sledding, winter aurora, midnight sun in summer and the Svalbard Global Seed Vault.

Longyearbyen on Svalbard - colourful wooden houses by the harbour against snow-covered mountains
  • Northeast Greenland National Park

Northeast Greenland National Park is the world's largest national park, covering the north-east of Greenland.

  • Ittoqqortoormiit

Ittoqqortoormiit on the east coast of Greenland is one of the most remote settlements in the world, the gateway to the Scoresby Sound - the largest fjord system on the planet. Colourful wooden houses, sled dogs and uninhabited Arctic wilderness define this Inuit hamlet.

  • Blosseville Coast

The Blosseville Coast on east Greenland is a remote, rarely visited stretch of coastline between Scoresby Sound and Tasiilaq, named after the French explorer Jules de Blosseville. Steep mountain ranges, calving glaciers and drifting pack ice shape one of the wildest scenes in the Arctic.

  • Tasiilaq

Tasiilaq is the largest settlement on Greenland's east coast, set picturesquely on King Oscar Harbour. Colourful timber houses, the Valley of Flowers and icebergs in the bay define the Arctic scene.

  • Reykjavík · Disembarkation

The world's northernmost capital is the starting point for Iceland's wonders: geysers, volcanoes, glaciers and northern lights. The creative, compact city with the striking Hallgrímskirkja offers excellent cuisine and a surprisingly lively cultural scene.

Why ivent-sailing

We know the sea — we have sailed many regions ourselves as skippers.

That is what makes our advice different: we know how geographic conditions shape the maritime experience, how that translates for you as a guest depending on your place on the ship, what sea conditions to expect in which season, what makes a quiet anchor bay special, and which cabin on which ship is worth the upgrade. Our recommendations come from the water, not from a brochure.
