The Voyage

Caribbean from/to St John's

5 nights under white sails aboard the Star Clipper, from Saint John’s and back. The voyage takes you through the Caribbean with volcanic peaks, colonial fortresses and unspoilt bays. Steady north-easterly trade winds turn every leg between the islands into a true sailing passage.

Ports of call

  • Road Bay
  • Jost van Dyke
  • Sopers Hole
  • Sir Francis Drake Channel
  • Norman Island
  • Basseterre

Life on board

The Star Clipper is a classic fully rigged ship with four masts and 16 sails, 170 guests, sporty and unhurried in atmosphere, no dress code, open seating and two pools. Guests are welcome to climb the rigging with the crew or take the helm.

Route Highlights

  • Road Bay (Anguilla): British Overseas Territory with long white sand beaches and turquoise water
  • Jost van Dyke: Smallest inhabited British Virgin Island, known for the Soggy Dollar Bar
  • Sir Francis Drake Channel: Sheltered waterway between the Virgin Islands, an ideal sailing ground
  • Norman Island: Inspiration for Stevenson’s Treasure Island, with The Caves for snorkelling
  • Basseterre (St Kitts): Capital with Brimstone Hill Fortress, UNESCO World Heritage and Gibraltar of the Caribbean

Early booking advantage: Voyages in 2028 fill quickly - premium cabins are often reserved 18-24 months in advance. An early booking enquiry is non-binding and secures your preferred cabin category.

Disembarkation

St John's (Antigua)

How the route could go:

St John's (Antigua) Road Bay Jost Van Dyke Sopers Hole Sir Francis Drake Channel Norman Island Basseterre
7 ports · route · approx. 390 nautical miles
  • St John's (Antigua) · Embarkation

St. John's is the capital of Antigua and Barbuda and a lively port set on a sheltered bay. Colourful Georgian timber houses, St. John's Cathedral and the public market define this Caribbean town.

  • Road Bay (Anguilla)

Road Bay (also Sandy Ground) is the main anchorage on Anguilla's west coast, famous for fresh lobster grilled right by the water. Lively beach bars and the historic salt-drying site in the hinterland make the place authentically Caribbean.

  • Jost Van Dyke

Jost van Dyke (British Virgin Islands) is barely 8 square kilometres in size, yet famous far beyond the Caribbean. The legendary "Soggy Dollar Bar" at White Bay Beach - where you swim ashore from your anchorage and pay with wet notes - is regarded as the most laid-back beach in the world.

  • Sopers Hole

Sopers Hole at the western tip of Tortola is a classic Caribbean yacht harbour. The colourful wooden houses, Pusser's Rum Bar and the sheltered bay make the place the most atmospheric marina in the British Virgin Islands.

  • Sir Francis Drake Channel

The Sir Francis Drake Channel is the sheltered waterway between the main islands of the British Virgin Islands. Named after the English privateer who called here in 1595 - today a world-class yachting area with steady 25-knot trade winds and over 40 anchorages in sight.

  • Norman Island (BVI)

Norman Island in the British Virgin Islands is said to have inspired Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island". The uninhabited island offers cave diving in the sea caves and one of the Caribbean's most popular floating bars.

  • Basseterre (St Kitts)

Basseterre is the capital of Saint Kitts and one of the best-preserved colonial cities in the English-speaking Caribbean. Brimstone Hill Fortress, the "Gibraltar of the Caribbean", has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999.

  • St John's (Antigua) · Disembarkation

The route of a sailing voyage may change without giving rise to mutual claims.
