The Voyage

Bridgetown to Rio de Janeiro

From Bridgetown in Barbados this twenty-night Atlantic passage follows the northern coast of South America into the Amazon and then south to Rio de Janeiro for carnival season. The Silver Nova, carrying 728 guests, belongs to the newest asymmetric class from 2024 and features the largest pool deck in the fleet as well as the S.A.L.T. culinary programme with regional focus. The route combines the sheer scale of the Amazon with the colonial harbours of Pernambuco and Bahia. Butler service in every suite, premium wine and complimentary WiFi are included throughout.

Route highlights

  • Bridgetown: capital of Barbados, a UNESCO World Heritage site with Georgian harbour architecture, the starting point of the Atlantic passage.
  • Macapá on the Amazon delta: a city straddling the equator, with the São José fortress and the Marco Zero monument.
  • Parintins: an island on the middle Amazon, known for the Boi-Bumbá festival and its red-clay architecture.
  • Manaus: a metropolis in the rainforest with the Teatro Amazonas opera house and the Meeting of the Waters where the Rio Negro and Solimões join.
  • Boca da Valeria: a small village on the Amazon bank offering a glimpse of Caboclo life away from the cities.
  • Recife and Salvador: Recife-Olinda with its colonial old town; Salvador with the UNESCO-listed Pelourinho district and Afro-Brazilian culture.
  • Rio de Janeiro: the closing harbour beneath Sugarloaf and Corcovado, traditionally during the February carnival season.

Early booking advantage: Voyages in 2027 fill quickly - premium cabins are often reserved 18-24 months in advance. An early booking enquiry is non-binding and secures your preferred cabin category.
