The Voyage

Lisbon to Barcelona

Seven nights between the Tagus estuary and the Catalan capital link Iberian Atlantic ports with the warmth of the western Mediterranean. Lisbon sees Silver Dawn off southwards to the Algarve before Andalusia opens two pillars of Spanish culture in Cadiz and Malaga. Gibraltar marks the transition from Atlantic to Mediterranean, after which the Levantine harbour cities of Cartagena and Valencia follow. The Silversea concept delivers butler service in every suite, premium wines on board and Wi-Fi, with gratuities included. Barcelona sets the Catalan full stop at the end.

Route highlights

  • Lisbon: Belem Tower and Pasteis de Belem to open the voyage
  • Portimao: gateway to the Algarve with golden cliffs
  • Cadiz: Phoenician harbour heritage and tapas culture
  • Gibraltar: famous rock at the gateway to the Mediterranean
  • Malaga: Picasso's birthplace and the Alcazaba
  • Cartagena (ES): Roman theatre and Punic traces
  • Valencia: Ciudad de las Artes and medieval centre

8 ports · route · approx. 770 nautical miles
  • SUN · 25 Oct 2026
    Lissabon · Embarkation
    Departure 19:00

Built on seven hills, Lisbon blends a southern European sense of life with a great history of discovery. From the Tower of Belém, Vasco da Gama and other navigators set out into the unknown - yellow trams and the melancholic Fado still tell the tale today.

  • MON · 26 Oct 2026
    Portimão
    Arrival 09:00 Departure 18:30

Portimão on the Algarve was a Phoenician settlement and is today one of Portugal's best-known sardine-grilling spots. Praia da Rocha, the spectacular cliffs of Ponta da Piedade in Lagos and the hinterland of cork oak forests define the region.

  • TUE · 27 Oct 2026
    Cádiz
    Arrival 07:00 Departure 23:00

Cádiz is regarded as the longest continuously inhabited city in western Europe (founded by the Phoenicians around 1,100 BC). The "tacita de plata" (silver cup) lies on a peninsula in the Atlantic - golden La Caleta beach, old city walls and the largest cathedral in Andalusia.

  • WED · 28 Oct 2026
    Gibraltar
    Arrival 08:00 Departure 19:00

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory at the foot of the striking limestone rock that guards the strait. The Barbary macaques (Europe's only wild monkey population), St Michael's stalactite cave and the view across to Africa 14 km away make Gibraltar unique.

  • THU · 29 Oct 2026
    Málaga
    Arrival 08:00 Departure 18:00

On the Costa del Sol in Andalusia on Spain's southern Mediterranean coast lies Málaga at the foot of the El Torcal mountains. Birthplace of Pablo Picasso, the city is today a major cultural hub with the Picasso Museum, the Moorish Alcazaba from the 11th century, the Roman theatre ruins and a lively harbour quarter around the Muelle Uno.

  • FRI · 30 Oct 2026
    Cartagena
    Arrival 09:00 Departure 19:00

Cartagena is a port city on the Spanish Mediterranean coast in the Murcia region and home to one of the country's principal naval bases. Carthaginians, Romans and Moors all shaped the bay, and the Roman theatre from the time of Augustus, rediscovered in the city centre, is among the most impressive in Spain.

  • SAT · 31 Oct 2026
    Valencia
    Arrival 07:30 Departure 17:00

Valencia is home to the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias - an architectural landmark by Calatrava in the city's former riverbed. The Old Town with the Silk Exchange (UNESCO World Heritage) and the Gothic cathedral, said to house the Holy Grail, deserves a leisurely exploration.
