The Voyage

Puerto Williams → Valparaíso

Eleven nights aboard Silver Cloud Expedition sail from Puerto Williams through the Chilean fjords to Valparaíso. The ice-strengthened 254-guest vessel carries 18 Zodiacs and enables landings in remote coves between the Beagle Channel and the Patagonian ice fields. An expedition team of naturalists, glaciologists and historians accompanies every activity. A butler in every suite, the premium onboard concept and Wi-Fi are part of the all-inclusive.

Route highlights

  • Puerto Williams: embarkation in the world's southernmost town on the Beagle Channel.
  • Beagle Channel and Glacier Alley: Glaciar Pia, Romanche, Italia and Garibaldi in a single day.
  • Punta Arenas: Chilean Patagonian port on the Strait of Magellan.
  • Chilean fjords: passage through narrow waterways between island ranges and hanging glaciers.
  • Puerto Edén and Chiloé: Kawésqar settlement in a fjord and the wooden UNESCO churches.
  • Puerto Montt: gateway to the Chilean Lake District, with views of Osorno volcano.
  • Valparaíso: disembarkation in Chile's port city of mural-clad cerros (UNESCO).

Early booking advantage: Voyages in 2028 fill quickly - premium cabins are often reserved 18-24 months in advance. An early booking enquiry is non-binding and secures your preferred cabin category.

    Puerto Williams · Embarkation
    Departure 18:00

Puerto Williams on Navarino Island is considered the southernmost town in the world and sits on the Beagle Channel with views of the Cordillera Darwin. The small Chilean town is a starting point for tours to Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn.

  • WED · 01 Mar 2028
    Ushuaia
    Arrival 07:00 Departure 15:30

Ushuaia in Argentina calls itself "the end of the world" and lies on the Beagle Channel, just short of Cape Horn. The town is the most important starting point for Antarctic expeditions and is surrounded by the wild landscapes of Tierra del Fuego National Park.

  • THU · 02 Mar 2028
    Aguila Glacier
    Arrival 13:30 Departure 18:30

The Aguila Glacier calves into Bahía Aguila south of the Beagle Channel in the Chilean Patagonian fjords. It flows from the Darwin range and is one of the few ice streams where calm conditions allow Zodiacs to approach close to the calving face.

  • FRI · 03 Mar 2028
    Punta Arenas
    Arrival 07:30 Departure 18:00

Punta Arenas in Chilean Patagonia was once the most important transit station between Atlantic and Pacific before the Panama Canal. The Palacio Sara Braun and the central Plaza Muñoz Gamero bear witness to the wealth of the 19th-century sheep-farming barons. Excursions lead to Torres del Paine National Park.

  • SAT · 04 Mar 2028
    Cruise Chilean Fjords

The Chilean fjords stretch over more than 1,500 kilometres along the Pacific coast of Patagonia from the Gulf of Corcovado to Cape Horn. Between the islands of the archipelago, glaciers from the Northern and Southern Patagonian Ice Fields tumble into the sea, with deserted coves between them home to Magellanic penguins.

  • SUN · 05 Mar 2028
    Cruise English Narrows
    Arrival 09:00 Departure 10:00

The English Narrows, or Angostura Inglesa, are a bottleneck only about 180 metres wide in the Messier Channel in the southern Chilean fjords. With its sharp course changes and powerful tidal currents, the passage is considered one of the most nautically demanding stretches in Patagonia.

  • SUN · 05 Mar 2028
    Tempanos Glacier
    Arrival 13:30 Departure 18:30

The Tempanos Glacier sits in Chile's Bernardo O'Higgins National Park in the far south of Patagonia, calving directly into turquoise fjord waters. Its ice flows down from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, the largest connected ice field in the Southern Hemisphere outside Antarctica.

  • MON · 06 Mar 2028
    Tortel
    Arrival 07:00 Departure 18:00

Caleta Tortel sits in Chilean Patagonia between two great ice fields on a sheltered bay. The village has no streets at all and is connected entirely by cypress-wood boardwalks on stilts.

  • WED · 08 Mar 2028
    Puerto Cisnes
    Arrival 06:30 Departure 13:00

On the rugged Patagonian Pacific coast in Chile's Aysén region, this fishing settlement nestles at the mouth of the Río Cisnes in the sheltered Puerto Cisnes bay. Surrounded by dense lenga forests and backed by Magdalena National Park, it is a gateway to Patagonia's remote fjord wilderness.

  • THU · 09 Mar 2028
    Puerto Montt
    Arrival 07:00 Departure 13:00

Puerto Montt is the gateway to the Chilean lakes and fjords. Excursions reach Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park with Lago Todos los Santos and the Osorno volcano; the historic wooden church of Dalcahue on Chiloé island (UNESCO) is nearby. Puerto Montt is also the starting point for voyages through the Patagonian channels.
