Sailing cruise from/to Bridgetown
Seven nights under white sails through the southern chain of the Lesser Antilles. From Bridgetown on Barbados, the Royal Clipper makes her way into the Grenadines, that archipelago between St Vincent and Grenada known for its tiny uninhabited islands, turquoise water, barely-lit anchorages and the dense rainforest interiors of the larger islands. The dry winter high season brings steady north-easterly trade winds.

Life on board
The Royal Clipper, with five masts and 42 sails, is one of the largest fully rigged sailing ships in the world. Life aboard is sporty and unhurried: no dress code, open seating in the two-storey dining room, three pools with one glass-floor pool above the Captain Nemo Lounge. Guests are welcome to climb the rigging with the crew, take the helm beside the captain or stretch out in the bowsprit net while dolphins ride the bow wave below.

St. Vincent is the main island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The active La Soufrière volcano (1,234 m), the black sand beaches and Wallilabou Bay (filming location for "Pirates of the Caribbean") define the wilder Atlantic side.

Bequia is the second-largest of the Grenadines and one of the most unspoilt Caribbean stops. The small boatbuilding tradition (wooden schooners are still built on beach yards today) and the turtle conservation programme are unique.

The capital of Martinique glows in Caribbean colours, with Creole architecture, lively markets and French cuisine. Particularly striking are the ruins of Saint-Pierre, the "Caribbean Pompeii", buried in 1902 by the eruption of Montagne Pelée.

Marigot Bay on St. Lucia's west coast was described by an English admiral as "the most beautiful natural harbour in the Caribbean". The horseshoe-shaped bay is surrounded by dense rainforest; the exclusive Marigot Bay Resort lies right at the water's edge.

Soufrière sits at the foot of the UNESCO World Heritage Pitons - the striking volcanic cones that rise sheer from the sea and are the symbol of St Lucia. Hot sulphur springs, tropical rainforest and cocoa plantations surround the small port town.
