The Voyage

Manila to Keelung

These nine nights aboard Le Soléal link Manila and Keelung across the western Pacific. The route brushes the historic island of Corregidor, the Spanish colonial traces of Vigan and the south of Taiwan around Kaohsiung. On board the 184-guest, 142-metre Ponant Classic ship, premium all-inclusive service and French cuisine combine with a dense sequence of Philippine and Taiwanese ports.

Route highlights

  • Manila: lively Philippine capital with the Intramuros fortress and a layered Spanish and American history.
  • Corregidor Island: historic island fortress at the entrance to Manila Bay, with abundant traces of the Second World War.
  • Currimao: coastal village in Ilocos Norte and gateway to the UNESCO town of Vigan with its Spanish cobblestone lanes.
  • Kaohsiung: harbour metropolis in southern Taiwan with the Lotus Pond, the Liuhe night market and the art island of Cijin.
  • Keelung: rain-rich harbour in northern Taiwan, gateway to Taipei and Jiufen.

  • Manila · Embarkation

Manila is the capital of the Philippines and one of the oldest European-influenced cities in Asia. The Spanish colonial quarter of Intramuros, the historic Fort Santiago and the bustling markets of Quiapo define the city.

  • Insel Corregidor
  • Hundred-Islands-Nationalpark
  • San Fernando, La Union

In the north of the Philippine island of Luzon, San Fernando is the capital of La Union region on the South China Sea. The harbour serves as a gateway to the rice terraces and mountains of the Cordillera.

  • Currimao (Luzon)

Currimao is a small coastal municipality in Ilocos Norte province in the north-west of the Philippine island of Luzon. The unusual sandstone cliffs at Maira-Ira beach and the Pangil rock with its natural arched window count among the region's most striking geological sights.

  • Claveria
  • Batanes
  • Kaohsiung

Taiwan's second-largest city on the subtropical south-west coast, with one of Asia's foremost container ports. A modern harbour district of art centres along the Love River contrasts with old temples and the Lotus Pond of Zuoying.
