Glasgow (Greenock) to Longyearbyen
This 13-night season opener sets a course from Scotland's west coast all the way to High Arctic Spitsbergen. From Glasgow (Greenock) the route passes the Hebridean island of Iona and the Shetland island of Mousa heading north towards the Norwegian coast. Along the Lofoten and via Tromsø the proximity to the ice grows noticeably before the crossing to Bear Island and Spitsbergen. Brønnøysund is a port town on the Helgeland coast of central Norway, situated between the Arctic Circle and Trondheim. Its landmark is the 258-metre Torghatten mountain with a natural hole straight through the summit, said in legend to come from a troll's petrified arrow.
