The Voyage

Scotland & British Isles from/to Glasgow

Seven nights as a round trip from Greenock take Le Champlain through the Inner and Outer Hebrides, one of Europe's most mythical island worlds. The route links the bird cliffs of Lunga, the Gaelic-speaking island of Canna, the mountain loch of Scavaig beneath the Cuillin, Ullapool in the Highland north and closes with Portree on Skye and Tobermory on Mull. Zodiacs are the key tool here for landings well off the road network. The marina platform and the Blue Eye lounge in the bow round out the on-board experience.

Route highlights

  • Greenock: Embarkation on the Firth of Clyde, within commuting distance of Glasgow.
  • Lunga: Uninhabited Treshnish island, one of Scotland's most important puffin colonies.
  • Canna: Small Isles Hebridean island with a Gaelic-speaking community and basalt columns.
  • Loch Scavaig: Deep sea loch on the southern coast of Skye beneath the Black Cuillin (up to 992 metres).
  • Ullapool: Highland harbour on Loch Broom, founded in 1788 as a herring fishing settlement.
  • Portree: Capital of the Isle of Skye, with its colourful painted waterfront.
  • Tobermory: Main town of Mull with its famous brightly painted 18th-century harbour houses.

  • Glasgow, Schottland · Embarkation
  • Lunga, Treshnish Isles

Largest of the uninhabited Treshnish Isles off the west coast of the Scottish Hebridean island of Mull. In early summer, thousands of puffins nest within arm's reach of visitors along the grassy cliff edges.

  • Loch Scavaig (Skye)

Dramatic sea loch on the southern coast of the Scottish Hebridean Isle of Skye, framed by the rugged Cuillin mountains. A short path from the anchorage leads to Loch Coruisk, a famed freshwater lake set in a cauldron of cliffs.

  • Canna, Hebriden

Canna is the westernmost of the Small Isles in Scotland's Inner Hebrides and has been owned by the National Trust for Scotland since 1981. The island has just around 20 residents, hosts puffins and gannets, and its Compass Hill of magnetic basalt is famous for throwing ships' compasses off course.

  • Calanais, Hebriden
  • Ullapool, Schottland

Ullapool sits on Scotland's north-west coast on Loch Broom in Wester Ross. The harbour town was founded in the 18th century as a herring fishing settlement and today serves as the ferry port to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.

  • Portree, Isle of Skye

On a sheltered bay on the east coast of the Scottish Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides, this small harbour town serves as the island's administrative and social centre. The distinctive colourful houses along the Skye Bay quayside create the town's iconic image.

  • Tobermory, Isle of Mull

Tobermory is the main town of the Scottish island of Mull, famed for the brightly painted houses along its harbour front. The sheltered bay is a popular stop on Scotland's west coast.
