What does Sail Share mean?

You book a berth, not the whole vessel. On board, there are up to 10 guests sharing double or multi-berth cabins - typically with a same-sex fellow traveller from the group. Skipper and cook are on board. Catering: half board. A private double cabin is available on request for a surcharge.

Sail Share is the more affordable option: you book a berth in a double or multi-berth cabin aboard a monohull yacht (Sun Loft 47). Unlike the premium option, you share the yacht with other guests, catering is on a half board basis (breakfast plus lunch or one main meal per day), and the atmosphere is informal and oriented towards sailing together.

Ideal for travellers who appreciate a good entry-level price and enjoy the company of other sailing enthusiasts.

On board

Sociable shared sailing

Sail Share works differently from a premium booking: you are part of a group aboard a monohull yacht (Sun Loft 47). The atmosphere is informal and life on board is sociable. Shared double or multi-berth cabins, communal bathrooms.

Flair on board

The crew (skipper and cook/bosun) handles navigation and safety. During manoeuvres you may lend a hand if you wish – but you do not have to. She is typically under way three to five hours a day.

Activities

  • Swimming from the aft deck at anchor stops
  • Going ashore independently
  • Water sports: snorkelling; further equipment depending on location
  • Catering: half board on board (breakfast plus typically one main meal per day, sometimes ashore depending on location)

Shared adventure

With this option there is no guarantee that the yacht will be under sail – in unfavourable winds she will proceed under engine.

Good company, life close to the water, an affordable entry point.

Cabins

The Sun Loft 47 has 6 cabins for guests - a mix of double and multi-berth cabins. With Sail Share, the cabin is generally shared (with your travel companion, with another guest of the same gender, or as single occupancy for a surcharge).

Standard double cabin

Two single beds or a double bed, simple fit-out. Shared WC and shower areas aboard.

Cabin with private WC (surcharge, limited availability)

Surcharge approx. EUR 190 per cabin. Limited availability - please enquire in good time.

With Sail Share the atmosphere is informal and sociable - that is part of the concept. Anyone seeking more privacy should opt for the premium variant with exclusive booking.

Region: Adriatic - Dalmatia and the Croatian coast

The Croatian Adriatic is one of the most densely sailed and most beautiful Mediterranean regions. Over 1,200 islands and islets lie in an arc off the Dalmatian coast, and hardly any is more than 10 nautical miles from the next. The steep coastline is shaped by karst - pale limestone that turns almost white in the sun - and the water is exceptionally clear. The Adriatic ranks among the cleanest seas in Europe.

In the south, Dubrovnik rises against the sky with its completely preserved medieval old town from the 13th century, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for "Game of Thrones". Hvar, Korčula (the birthplace of Marco Polo) and Vis are the most famous islands. In the middle stretch lie the Kornati - a national park of 89 uninhabited islands, probably the densest cluster of islands in the world, with the "crowns" of the highest cliffs and tiny bays for anchoring.

Aboard, you can look forward to Dalmatian cuisine with truffles from Istria, fresh fish from the daily market, pršut (air-dried ham) and Croatian white wines such as Pošip or Grk. The harbours are small, charming and almost always with dining right on the waterfront. Sailing season May to October, most stable from June to September - the Maestral blows reliably from the west.
