The Voyage

Scotland & the British Isles from/to Glasgow

This seven-night round voyage aboard Le Lapérouse runs from Glasgow through the Inner and Outer Hebrides up to the Orkneys and back. The 184-guest Explorer-class ship, with her ice-strengthened hull and sixteen Zodiacs, reaches smaller island harbours including Stornoway on Lewis, Stromness on Orkney and Ullapool in the north-west Highlands. The Blue Eye underwater lounge in the bow reveals Scottish waters known for their seal and gannet colonies. Full board, beverages and excursions are part of the premium all-inclusive concept.

Route highlights

  • Glasgow (Greenock): Scotland's Atlantic harbour at the gateway to the western Highlands.
  • Oban: harbour town with McCaig's Tower, gateway to the Inner Hebrides.
  • Stornoway: main town of Lewis and Harris, near the prehistoric Callanish Standing Stones.
  • Stromness: harbour town on Orkney, gateway to the Neolithic World Heritage sites of Skara Brae and the Ring of Brodgar.
  • Ullapool: picturesque port on Loch Broom in the north-west Highlands.
  • Portree: principal village on the Isle of Skye, with the Cuillin range as a backdrop.
  • Tobermory: colourful harbour front on the Isle of Mull.

  • Oban, Schottland

Oban lies on Scotland's west coast and is known as the gateway to the Hebrides. The Victorian harbour town is famed for its whisky distillery and the striking McCaig's Tower above the town.

  • Stornoway, Hebriden

On the Scottish island of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides, Stornoway is the only sizeable harbour in the archipelago. Lews Castle and the Gaelic heritage define the main town.

  • Stromness, Orkneyinseln

Stromness on Hoy Sound, in the south-west of the Orkney mainland, is known for its flagstone lanes and 18th-century captains' houses. The ferry harbour links the archipelago with the Scottish mainland.

  • Ullapool, Schottland

Ullapool sits on Scotland's north-west coast on Loch Broom in Wester Ross. The harbour town was founded in the 18th century as a herring fishing settlement and today serves as the ferry port to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.

  • Portree, Isle of Skye

On a sheltered bay on the east coast of the Scottish Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides, this small harbour town serves as the island's administrative and social centre. The distinctive colourful houses along the Skye Bay quayside create the town's iconic image.

  • Tobermory, Isle of Mull

Tobermory is the main town of the Scottish island of Mull, famed for the brightly painted houses along its harbour front. The sheltered bay is a popular stop on Scotland's west coast.
