Reykjavik to Glasgow (Greenock)
This eleven-night voyage aboard L'Austral traces the reverse line through the wild island groups of the North Atlantic. From Reykjavík you sail along Iceland's east coast, on to the Faroes, the Shetlands and into the Scottish Hebrides as far as Greenock. The marina platform and Zodiac fleet open up remote bays and cliffs, while the premium all-inclusive concept and French refinement set the pace on board.
Route highlights
- Reykjavík: North-Atlantic capital with the Harpa, Hallgrímskirkja and gateway to the Golden Circle.
- Heimaey: Main island of the Westman group with the Eldfell volcano and puffin colonies.
- Djúpivogur: Eastern-fjord village at the foot of the Búlandstindur.
- Streymoy: Main Faroese island, with the capital Tórshavn on its eastern shore.

Reykjavík · Embarkation
The world's northernmost capital is the starting point for Iceland's wonders: geysers, volcanoes, glaciers and northern lights. The creative, compact city with the striking Hallgrímskirkja offers excellent cuisine and a surprisingly lively cultural scene.
-
Heimaey, Westmännerinseln
Heimaey is the only inhabited island of the Westman Islands off Iceland's south coast. The volcanic eruption of 1973 buried parts of the town and enlarged the island by 2 km²; millions of puffins now breed on the cliffs.
-
Djúpivogur
Djúpivogur is a small fishing village in Iceland's East Fjords, at the foot of the pyramid-shaped mountain Búlandstindur. Along the harbour 34 oversized eggs by the artist Sigurður Guðmundsson form the Eggin í Gleðivík sculpture parade, each modelled on a bird species nesting in the region.

Sea loch on the north-west coast of Scotland in the Highlands, sheltered from the Atlantic. In the Second World War, Allied Arctic convoys to Murmansk assembled here, and on its shore lies the subtropical Inverewe Garden.

-
Loch Scavaig (Skye)
Dramatic sea loch on the southern coast of the Scottish Hebridean Isle of Skye, framed by the rugged Cuillin mountains. A short path from the anchorage leads to Loch Coruisk, a famed freshwater lake set in a cauldron of cliffs.

Destination
L'Austral
L'Austral belongs to Ponant's Odyssée class: 264 guests, ice-reinforced hull, French cuisine with wine at dinner. Large enough for comfort on the open sea, small enough for fjords, pack ice boundaries and islands without a harbour.
In northern Europe, L'Austral sails through Norwegian fjords and along the Scottish coast - natural encounters with the comfort of a French hotel.
