The Voyage

Athens/Porto Rafti, Peloponnese, Hydra, Spetses, Nafplio

A sailing voyage through the Saronic and Argolic Gulfs, from Athens to Nafplio. Between the charming island stops there are also longer legs under sail, so that relaxed evenings at anchor alternate with real sailing days.

Highlights

  • Porto Rafti: A calm, wide bay near Athens as the starting point of the voyage.
  • Hydra: A car-free island with its elegant harbour amphitheatre and captains’ houses.
  • Spetses: A green island of neoclassical villas and a lively old harbour.
  • Nafplio: A Venetian old town beneath the mighty Palamidi fortress.
Distance voyage

A yacht voyage with beautiful stops for watersports and time ashore, but also longer legs sailed in part through the night. For everyone who enjoys the sailing itself.

Early booking advantage: Voyages in 2027 fill quickly - premium cabins are often reserved 18-24 months in advance. An early booking enquiry is non-binding and secures your preferred cabin category.

How the route could go:

Peloponnese Hydra Spetses Nafplio
4 of 5 ports located · approx. 100 nautical miles
  • Athens/Porto Rafti · Embarkation
  • Peloponnese
  • Hydra

Hydra is one of the few islands in the world without cars - donkeys, muleteers and water taxis are the only forms of transport. The historic harbour town of whitewashed captains' houses was one of the most important trading centres of the Aegean in the 19th century.

  • Spetses

Spetses is a car-free island in the Saronic Gulf (only carriages and mopeds). The main town with its neoclassical captain's houses, the famous Poseidonion hotel island and the Anargyrios School peninsula (filming location of John Fowles' "The Magus") define the island.

  • Nafplio · Disembarkation

Nafplio was the first capital of independent Greece from 1827 to 1834, and remains one of the country's most elegant towns. Above the old quarter stands the Venetian fortress of Palamidi, reached by a famous flight of steps, while out in the harbour the little island castle of Bourtzi lies at anchor like a ship of stone. The neoclassical lanes, bright with bougainvillea and lined with cafés, seem to breathe history. Two World Heritage Sites lie close by: the ancient theatre of Epidaurus, celebrated for its perfect acoustics, and the citadel of Mycenae with its Lion Gate.

The route of a sailing voyage may change without giving rise to mutual claims.
