The Voyage

Buenos Aires to Valparaíso

From Buenos Aires this sixteen-night passage runs through the Atlantic to Patagonia, around Cape Horn and through the Chilean fjords and channels to Valparaíso. The Silver Nova, carrying 728 guests, belongs to the newest asymmetric class from 2024 and features the largest pool deck in the fleet as well as the S.A.L.T. culinary programme. The route combines the Argentine pampa coast with the Falkland Islands, the Beagle Channel, the Garibaldi Glacier and the Chilean island world. Butler service in every suite and the all-inclusive concept accompany the entire voyage.

Route highlights

  • Buenos Aires: departure harbour on the Río de la Plata, with tango, the Recoleta cemetery and the San Telmo and La Boca districts.
  • Puerto Madryn: gateway to the Valdés Peninsula with penguin, sea-lion and southern right whale colonies (UNESCO World Heritage).
  • Stanley on the Falkland Islands: the British-influenced capital in the South Atlantic, with its Victorian cathedral and whalebone arch.
  • Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel: Argentina's southernmost town at the foot of the Martial range, with cruising through the Beagle Channel.
  • Garibaldi Glacier: a tidewater glacier in the Cordillera Darwin massif, with its ice wall reaching the sea.
  • Punta Arenas: Chilean harbour on the Strait of Magellan, once the wealthiest town in Patagonia.
  • Chilean fjords and Puerto Montt: scenic cruising through narrow channels with tidewater glaciers; Puerto Montt as the gateway to the Lake District.
  • Valparaíso: closing harbour, a UNESCO World Heritage site with colourful hillside districts and historic funiculars, the gateway to Santiago.

Early booking advantage: Voyages in 2027 fill quickly - premium cabins are often reserved 18-24 months in advance. An early booking enquiry is non-binding and secures your preferred cabin category.

    Garibaldi Fjord & Glacier
    Arrival 11:00 Departure 15:00

    Punta Arenas
    Arrival 07:00 Departure 19:00

Punta Arenas in Chilean Patagonia was once the most important transit station between Atlantic and Pacific before the Panama Canal. The Chilean fjords stretch over more than 1,500 kilometres along the Pacific coast of Patagonia from the Gulf of Corcovado to Cape Horn. Between the islands of the archipelago, glaciers from the Northern and Southern Patagonian Ice Fields tumble into the sea, with deserted coves between them home to Magellanic penguins.
