The Voyage

Japan from/to Tokyo

Eleven nights take Silver Moon from Tokyo through the Inland Sea, across to South Korea and back. Port cities, temples and quiet bays form a fairy-tale arc between two coastal cultures. Silversea keeps an all-inclusive standard with a butler in every suite, premium wines, Wi-Fi and gratuities. That leaves the harbour free for markets, shrines and walks. A compact approach to Japan and Korea.

Route highlights

  • Tokyo: Shrine gardens, sushi and high-rise canyons as a framework.
  • Kobe: Port gateway to Kyoto and Nara with Wagyu and sake.
  • Nagasaki: Glover Garden, Dutch traces and a story of peace.
  • Busan: Jagalchi market, beaches and the Beomeosa temple.
  • Jeju: Volcanic island with lava tubes and a sunrise peak.
  • Kanazawa: Samurai quarter and Kenroku-en.

Tokyo is the largest metropolitan area on Earth. Tsukiji market, the quiet Asakusa district with Senso-ji Temple, the pop worlds of Shibuya and Akihabara, plus the view from the Skytree (634 m) - Tokyo combines centuries-old tradition with a high-tech future.

  • THU · 30 Sep 2027
    Toba
    Arrival 09:30 Departure 16:00

Toba sits on the Pacific coast of Japan's Mie Prefecture on the Shima Peninsula. Here Mikimoto Kōkichi launched the world's first cultured pearl production in 1893, a story now told in a dedicated museum.

  • FRI · 01 Oct 2027
    Osaka
    Arrival 08:30 Departure 19:30

Osaka is the gateway to Nara (45 minutes) with free-roaming deer and the Todai-ji temple with the largest bronze Buddha in Japan, as well as to Kyoto. Osaka itself is Japan's kitchen capital - takoyaki, okonomiyaki and the Dotonbori canal form the liveliest food quarter in Japan.

  • SAT · 02 Oct 2027
    Kochi
    Arrival 08:30 Departure 16:30

Kōchi lies on Tosa Bay on the Pacific coast of Shikoku. Kōchi Castle is one of only twelve original castles surviving in Japan, a monument at Katsurahama beach recalls the reformer Sakamoto Ryoma, and at Hirome market you can taste the local speciality katsuo no tataki, seared bonito. Kōchi is the gateway to the clear rivers and mountains of Shikoku's rural heart.

  • SUN · 03 Oct 2027
    Hiroshima
    Arrival 08:00 Departure 18:00

Hiroshima is both a memorial and a modern metropolis. The Peace Memorial Museum, the Atomic Bomb Dome (UNESCO) and the sacred island of Miyajima opposite, with its floating torii gate, make Hiroshima the most culturally important port of western Japan.

    Busan
    Arrival 07:00 Departure 19:00

Busan is South Korea's second-largest city and its most important port. Jagalchi Fish Market, the colourful Gamcheon district (Korea's "Machu Picchu") and the Beomeosa temple complex in the Geumjeongsan mountains showcase its maritime and Buddhist heritage.

  • WED · 06 Oct 2027
    Nagasaki
    Arrival 08:30 Departure 19:00

Nagasaki, with its Atomic Bomb Park and Peace Museum, recalls 9 August 1945 - the second atomic bomb in history. At the same time, Nagasaki has the longest western history of any Japanese city: the Dutch trading post of Dejima was for 200 years the only European gateway to isolated Japan.

  • THU · 07 Oct 2027
    Kagoshima
    Arrival 08:00 Departure 18:00

Kagoshima is the capital of Kagoshima Prefecture in southern Kyushu. The active volcano Sakurajima across the bay smokes constantly and at times dusts the city with ash. The Senganen Gardens, the samurai tradition and the bold local cuisine define the cityscape.
