The Voyage

Puerto Williams to Valparaíso

From Puerto Williams on the Beagle Channel this eleven-night expedition heads north through the Patagonian fjords and channels of Chile to Valparaíso. The Silver Cloud Expedition, carrying 254 guests, is ice-strengthened, carries a Zodiac fleet and is staffed by naturalists who lead selected landings in the skerries and bays. The route follows Chile's fractured island coast with tidewater glaciers, dense Magellanic forests and small fjord anchorages. Butler service in every suite and the all-inclusive concept accompany the entire voyage.

Route highlights

  • Puerto Williams: the southernmost town in the world on the Beagle Channel, the embarkation harbour and gateway to Cabo de Hornos.
  • Beagle Channel and Glacier Alley: a transit past several named glaciers including Pia, Garibaldi and Romanche.
  • Strait of Magellan and Punta Arenas: the traditional shipping route between Atlantic and Pacific, with a call at the Patagonian capital depending on the itinerary.
  • Chilean fjords: scenic cruising through narrow channels such as Sarmiento, Messier or Estero de las Montañas, with tidewater glaciers.
  • Zodiac and landing programme: daily operations subject to wind and weather, led by the expedition team on board.
  • Valparaíso: the closing harbour, a UNESCO World Heritage site with colourful hillside districts and historic funiculars, the gateway to Santiago.

Early booking advantage: Voyages in 2027 fill quickly - premium cabins are often reserved 18-24 months in advance. An early booking enquiry is non-binding and secures your preferred cabin category.
