The Voyage

Hong Kong to Singapore

Thirteen nights aboard Le Soléal trace the reverse course from Hong Kong along the Vietnamese coast to Singapore. The route opens with the UNESCO karst of Halong Bay, runs past the imperial cities of central Vietnam and ends in the Mekong delta. On board the 184-guest, 142-metre Ponant Classic ship, French elegance, premium all-inclusive service and Zodiac landings define the experience.

Route highlights

  • Hong Kong: spectacular harbour metropolis with Victoria Peak and the Star Ferry.
  • Vinh Ha Long (Halong Bay): world-famous UNESCO karst landscape with over 1,900 islands in the Gulf of Tonkin.
  • Da Nang and Chan May: central Vietnamese harbours, gateways to the imperial city of Huế and the UNESCO old town of Hoi An.
  • Ho Chi Minh City and the Saigon River: vibrant southern Vietnamese metropolis with colonial heritage.
  • Côn Dao: Vietnamese island in the South China Sea with rainforest and coral reefs.
  • Singapore: gleaming city state and hub of Southeast Asia.

Hong Kong blends Chinese tradition with British colonial heritage and global modernity. The view from Victoria Peak over Asia's densest skyline, the Wong Tai Sin Temple and the historic Po Lin monastery with the Big Buddha on Lantau Island are among the city's finest.

  • Da Nang

Da Nang lies on Vietnam's central coast on the South China Sea and is the country's third-largest city. Just outside the city the five Marble Mountains with their Buddhist cave temples rise from the coastal plain, while to the north the fire-breathing Dragon Bridge spans the Han River.

  • Chan May

Chan May is the port of call for Hoi An and Hue in central Vietnam. Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, is one of the best-preserved trading towns in South-East Asia with Chinese, Japanese and European influences; Hue is home to the imperial city of the Nguyen dynasty, another UNESCO site.

  • Quy Nhon

  • Ho-Chi-Minh-Stadt (Saigon)

On the Saigon River in southern Vietnam pulses Ho Chi Minh City as the country's largest metropolis with over nine million inhabitants. The former Saigon combines colonial landmarks such as Notre-Dame Cathedral and the old Central Post Office by Gustave Eiffel with the Cu Chi Tunnels of the Vietnam War and the lively Ben Thanh Market.
