The Voyage

Glasgow (Greenock) → Reykjavík

Ten nights with Le Bellot from Greenock to Reykjavík link Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Hebrides, the Faroes and Iceland's southern and western coast. The route blends Highland lochs, Gaelic islands, Norse island country and volcanic Atlantic isles in a single coherent arc. With her 184 guests, marina platform and 16 Zodiacs, Le Bellot uses harbours closed to larger ships. The Blue Eye lounge in the bow opens up a view and sound below the waterline.

Route highlights

  • Greenock: Embarkation on the Firth of Clyde with connections to Glasgow.
  • Belfast: Capital of Northern Ireland, home to the Titanic Quarter and Victorian industrial history.
  • Fort William: Highland town on Loch Linnhe, gateway to Ben Nevis (1345 metres).
  • Loch Linnhe: Long sea loch along the Great Glen fault.
  • Stornoway: Capital of the Isle of Lewis, close to the 5000-year-old Callanish standing stones.
  • Suðuroy: Southernmost of the Faroe Islands, with high cliff edges.
  • Streymoy: Main island of the Faroes with the capital Tórshavn and the Tinganes promontory.
  • Djúpivogur: East Iceland harbour on Berufjörður beneath the pyramidal Búlandstindur.
  • Heimaey: Main Vestmannaeyjar island with the Eldfell volcano and puffin colony.

Arrival

Reykjavík

Glasgow (Greenock) Belfast Fort William Loch Linnhe Stornoway Suðuroy Streymoy Faroe Islands Djúpivogur Heimaey Reykjavík
11 ports · route · approx. 1,080 nautical miles
  • Glasgow, Schottland · Embarkation
  • Belfast, Nordirland

Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland and birthplace of the Titanic. The Titanic Belfast Museum at the original dry dock, the political mural heritage of the Troubles and the literary tradition (C.S. Lewis, Seamus Heaney) make Belfast multi-layered.

  • Kreuzen im Loch Linnhe
  • Fort William

Fort William lies in the western Scottish Highlands at the foot of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. The town is the starting point for the West Highland Way.

  • Stornoway, Hebriden

On the Scottish island of Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides, Stornoway is the only sizeable harbour in the archipelago. Lews Castle and the Gaelic heritage define the main town.

  • Suduroy-Insel, Färöer-Inseln
  • Fahrt entlang der Küste Färöer-Inseln
  • Streymoy-Insel, Färöer-Inseln
  • Djúpivogur

Djúpivogur is a small fishing village in Iceland's East Fjords, at the foot of the pyramid-shaped mountain Búlandstindur. Along the harbour 34 oversized eggs by the artist Sigurður Guðmundsson form the Eggin í Gleðivík sculpture parade, each modelled on a bird species nesting in the region.

  • Kreuzen in den Westmännerinseln
  • Heimaey, Westmännerinseln

Heimaey is the only inhabited island of the Westman Islands off Iceland's south coast. The volcanic eruption of 1973 buried parts of the town and enlarged the island by 2 km²; millions of puffins now breed on the cliffs.
