Venice to Rome / Civitavecchia
Eleven nights under white sails through the eastern Adriatic and southern Italy. From Venice the Star Clipper links the Croatian islands and Montenegro with Apulia, Sicily and the Amalfi Coast, an exceptionally varied Mediterranean route with UNESCO World Heritage sites, volcanic landscapes and mediaeval port towns.

Life on board
The Star Clipper is a classic fully rigged ship with four masts and 16 sails, 170 guests, sporty and unhurried in atmosphere, no dress code, open seating and two pools. Guests are welcome to climb the rigging with the crew or take the helm.

Venice spreads across some 120 islands in the lagoon on the northern Adriatic in Italy's Veneto region. St Mark's Basilica, the Doge's Palace and the Grand Canal palazzos make this UNESCO World Heritage city unique.

Mali Losinj (Lošinj)
On a sheltered bay in the south of the Croatian island of Lošinj lies its main town of the same name in the Kvarner Bay of the northern Adriatic. Pine forests and a mild healing climate turned it into a Habsburg health resort in the 19th century, where Archduke Charles Stephen built a summer residence.

Sibenik
Šibenik on the Dalmatian coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its Cathedral of St. James (15th/16th century). Four fortresses from the Venetian period frame the city; the nearby Krka National Park with its dramatic waterfalls is a natural highlight.

Dubrovnik
The "Pearl of the Adriatic" is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cityscapes and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The mighty 13th-century city walls can be walked all the way round - offering panoramic views of the Adriatic and the Dalmatian islands.

At the end of one of the longest fjords in the Adriatic lies Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The fully preserved Venetian city walls and the panoramic view from the Fortress of San Giovanni over the Bay of Kotor are among the most impressive experiences in the Mediterranean.

Otranto
Otranto on Puglia's easternmost point is Italy's easternmost harbour. The Norman cathedral with a huge floor mosaic from the 12th century, the pale-blue Adriatic lagoons of Laghi Alimini and the "Turkish Tower" (recalling the Ottoman siege of 1480) are highlights.

Taormina
Taormina sits on a rocky spur above the Ionian Sea and is regarded as the loveliest spot in Sicily. The Greek-Roman theatre with Mount Etna in the background is one of the most spectacular ancient settings; ships moor at Giardini-Naxos at the foot of the hill.

Amalfi lies at the foot of a sheer coastline regarded as one of the most beautiful in Europe. Excursions lead to the "Path of the Gods" (Sentiero degli Dei) with panoramic views over the gulf and coast, and to nearby Ravello with the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone.

Ponza is the largest of the Pontine Islands off the coast of Lazio. Turquoise grottoes, steep pumice cliffs and a small lively harbour village make it a hidden favourite of the Tyrrhenian yachting world.

Rome / Civitavecchia · Disembarkation
Civitavecchia lies about 80 kilometres north-west of Rome and is the classic cruise gateway to the Eternal City. The harbour is guarded by the 16th-century Forte Michelangelo, completed to designs by Michelangelo.
