Baltic Sea

Sailing the Baltic Sea

The Baltic is our home waters – and the dream ground for sailing with ambition: Hanseatic towns and skerries, medieval Visby, the capitals Copenhagen, Stockholm and Tallinn, and our premier league of team events. Whether a sailing voyage, a sailing cruise on a tall ship, a match race on an ocean racer, a boutique cruise or expedition luxury – the Baltic carries every form.

Team events and regattas – the premier league on the Baltic

The Baltic is our dream ground for company and team events. The premier league: match races on VO 60 ocean racers – yachts that have won races around the world. Alongside them, classic tall ships such as the Bark Artemis for larger groups, and sporty charter yachts for the active crew. Find out more on our team events page.

Scandinavia – Copenhagen, Stockholm and the skerries

The northern Baltic: from Copenhagen across the Öresund into the Stockholm archipelago with its thousands of islands, on to Helsinki. Sheltered water, long bright summer nights and sailing between rock and pine forest.

The Baltic States – Tallinn, Riga and Klaipeda

The eastern shore with its Hanseatic old towns: medieval Tallinn, Art Nouveau Riga and Klaipeda on the Curonian Spit. Plenty of history on short hops.

Gotland and the southern Baltic – Visby, Bornholm and Gdansk

The centre and the south: walled Visby on Gotland, the sunny island of Bornholm and the Hanseatic city of Gdansk. Classic Baltic voyages with culture and bathing bays.

Which ship for the Baltic?

From a sporty regatta to a cruise – the Baltic offers the full range. Every one of these voyages and events is arranged and booked through ivent-sailing:

  • Match race on an ocean racer (VO 60) – racing on yachts that have sailed around the world; the premier league for sporty team events.
  • Sailing voyage on charter yachts (Starkel 41 and others) – from sporty to comfortable, with or without skipper, for small groups.
  • Sailing cruise on tall ships (Bark Artemis, Eye of the Wind, Stad Amsterdam) – true sailing under full yards, ideal for larger team events too.
  • Boutique cruising (Le Champlain) – French elegance, intimate ships, great cuisine.
  • Expedition and ultra-luxury cruise (Le Commandant Charcot, Silver Dawn, Silver Spirit) – the highest comfort, reaching into the northern Baltic and the Gulf of Bothnia.

Whether a private voyage or a team event – we put together the right ship and the right programme for you.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the Baltic ideal for team events?

Short distances, many harbours and sheltered water, plus our premier league: match races on VO 60 ocean racers that have sailed around the world, and classic tall ships for larger groups. An experience that truly welds a team together.

Which ports do the Baltic voyages start from?

Frequent ports are Copenhagen, Stockholm, Kiel and Rostock/Warnemünde, along with Tallinn and Riga. You will find the exact port with each voyage in the list; team events are arranged at your preferred location.

When is the best time to sail the Baltic?

From May to September. High summer brings long, bright nights and warm bathing water; early summer and September are quieter and often ideal for sailing.

Do you need experience for a sailing team event?

No. Whether a match race, a regatta or a voyage on a tall ship, experienced skippers and crews are aboard and involve your team actively. We tailor the level and programme to your group.

What should you not miss on the Baltic?

The Stockholm archipelago, the old town of Tallinn, the ring wall of Visby and a sunset on Bornholm. We are glad to tell you which ports lie on your route in a personal conversation.
