What does Sail Share mean?

You book a berth, not the whole vessel. On board, there are up to 10 guests sharing double or multi-berth cabins - typically with a same-sex fellow traveller from the group. Skipper and cook are on board. Catering: half board. A private double cabin is available on request for a surcharge.

Sail Share is the more affordable option: you book a berth in a double or multi-berth cabin aboard a monohull yacht (Sun Loft 47). Unlike the premium option, you share the yacht with other guests, catering is half board (breakfast plus lunch or one main meal per day), and the atmosphere is informal and oriented towards joining in with the sailing.

Ideal for travellers who value an accessible entry price and welcome the company of fellow sailing enthusiasts.

On board

Sociable shared sailing

Sail Share works differently from a premium booking: you are part of a group of guests aboard a monohull yacht (Sun Loft 47). The atmosphere is informal and life on board is sociable. Shared double or multi-berth cabins and shared bathrooms.

Flair on board

The crew (skipper and cook/bosun) takes care of navigation and safety. You are welcome to lend a hand during manoeuvres if you wish, but you do not have to. The yacht is typically under way for three to five hours per day.

Activities

  • Swimming from the stern at anchor stops
  • Going ashore on your own
  • Watersports: snorkelling; further equipment depending on location
  • Catering: half board on board (breakfast plus, usually, one main meal per day; depending on location also at a local restaurant)

An informal sailing adventure

With this option there is no guarantee that the yacht will be under sail; in unfavourable winds she will proceed under engine.

Sociable company, time on the water, an accessible entry point.

Cabins

The Sun Loft 47 has 6 cabins for guests - a mix of double and multi-berth cabins. With Sail Share, the cabin is generally shared (with your travel companion, with another guest of the same gender, or as single occupancy for a surcharge).

Standard double cabin

Two single beds or a double bed, simple fit-out. Shared WC and shower areas aboard.

Cabin with private WC (surcharge, limited availability)

Surcharge approx. EUR 190 per cabin. Limited availability - please enquire in good time.

With Sail Share the atmosphere is informal and sociable - that is part of the concept. Anyone seeking more privacy should opt for the premium variant with exclusive booking.

Region: Greece - Ionian Sea and Aegean

The Greek island world divides into three large regions: the Ionian Islands west of the mainland with Corfu and Lefkada, the Cyclades in the central Aegean around Mykonos and Santorini, and the Dodecanese near the Turkish coast. Each island group has its own architecture, cuisine and mentality.

Corfu and the Ionian sister islands are characterised by dense vegetation - cypresses, olive groves, lemon trees right down to the water. The climate is milder than on the Cyclades, the Meltemi wind less fierce. Paxos and Antipaxos lie off Corfu; their caves and crystal-clear beaches count among the finest in Greece. In the Aegean, volcanic landscapes shape the scenery - Santorini with the flooded caldera and the white villages on the crater rim is one of the most iconic images of the region.

Ancient sites await on every second island: the Temple of Apollo on Delos, the Asklepieion on Kos, the Venetian fortresses of Corfu. Fresh grilled octopus, home-made tzatziki, souvlaki, Greek coffee in the harbour taverna. Sailing season May to October; in August the Meltemi can blow strongly at times (5-6 Bft) - the Ionian Islands are then the calmer choice.

Frequently asked

Depending on weather and the skipper's decision, the route includes stops at the most attractive anchorages and islands of the region. The currently planned stations are: various anchorages and islands in the region. The final stops and their order are selected and set on site by the skipper.
May to October. Spring and autumn are pleasantly warm (22-26°C) with moderate winds; high summer (July/August) is very warm, with the characteristic Meltemi in the Aegean or Mistral in the western Mediterranean.

In addition to the trip price: Destination fee 195 € per person (harbour and mooring fees, national park entry, local taxes; details on when this is due are confirmed in your booking confirmation); travel and transfers; optional personal travel insurance.
