Cape Verde: São Vicente, Boa Vista, Sal, Santo Antão, São Vicente

Highlights
- São Vicente: the culture-rich harbour town of Mindelo.
- Santo Antão: green mountains with spectacular walking trails.
- Sal & Boa Vista: pale sandy beaches and turquoise water.
- At anchor: a morning swim in sheltered bays.
The finest way to sail: a new anchorage every day, plenty of time for watersports and going ashore, nights at anchor in a quiet bay and a morning swim before moving on.
Early booking advantage: Voyages in 2027 fill quickly - premium cabins are often reserved 18-24 months in advance. An early booking enquiry is non-binding and secures your preferred cabin category.
The Route
São Vicente

São Vicente
How the route could go:
-
São Vicente (São Vicente, Kapverden) · Embarkation
São Vicente is the cultural main island of the Cape Verdes. Mindelo, the harbour town with its wonderfully curved bay of Porto Grande, is regarded as the capital of Cape Verdean music (birthplace of Cesária Évora) and hosts one of the liveliest carnivals in West Africa in February.
-
Boa Vista (Boa Vista, Kapverden)
Boa Vista is the easternmost and third-largest island of Cape Verde. Desert-like sand dunes stretch for kilometres, the Praia de Santa Mónica beach is among the most beautiful on the Atlantic, and the wreck of the Cabo Santa Maria lies off the coast. Turtle nesting sites here are among the largest in the world.
-
Sal (Sal, Kapverden)
Sal is named after its former salt production - the ancient salt pans of Pedra de Lume in a burnt-out volcanic crater are now a bathing spot in brine water. The main town of Santa Maria in the south offers 8 km of pure white sand beach and is a windsurfing and kitesurfing hotspot.
-
Santo Antão (Santo Antão, Kapverden)
Santo Antão is the greenest and most dramatic of the Cape Verde Islands - deep gorges, terraced slopes with sugar cane, cassava and bananas, and cloud-piercing trails through the Ribeira do Paúl. Famous for its raw, traditional grogue (sugar cane spirit) and lonely hiking paths.
