Golden October bathes the Øresund and the Kattegat in clear autumn light. Aboard the Eye of the Wind your voyage begins in Copenhagen, Denmark, and carries you under sail through Scandinavian waters to the Swedish harbour city of Gothenburg. Fresh breezes, quiet anchorages and the still expanse of the crisp autumn Baltic define this week under sail.
From Copenhagen you sail through the Øresund, the strait between Denmark and Sweden, passing the old castle town of Helsingør. Which harbour or anchorage is reached each evening is decided by the captain according to wind and weather. After a fine day of sailing across the grey waters of the Kattegat, the Swedish harbour town of Halmstad may serve as a possible staging point. Before entering Gothenburg the crew masters the demanding passage through the archipelago, where small and tiny rocky islets lie scattered. To close the voyage you navigate the river Göta älv, which as the Trollhätte Canal forms a navigable link between the Kattegat and Lake Vänern and leads through impressive locks, before the voyage ends in Gothenburg.
Included: 7 nights in the double cabin, full board on board (all meals plus water, coffee and tea), use of the saloon facilities, bed linen and towels.

The UNESCO World Heritage Kronborg Castle, Shakespeare's setting for Hamlet, towers over the harbour, and the M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark impresses with underground architecture in a former dry dock.

On Sweden's west coast on the Kattegat stretches Gothenburg, the country's second-largest city with nearly 600,000 inhabitants. Founded by the Dutch in the 17th century, the port city offers canals, the Liseberg amusement park, the Volvo heritage and the daily fish auction at the church-shaped Feskekôrka market hall on the Rosenlund canal.
