Seven nights under sail across the eastern Baltic Sea, from the Estonian capital of Tallinn to the Latvian city of Riga: this summer voyage aboard the Eye of the Wind links the old Hanseatic towns of the Baltic with long stretches of open water along a quiet, unspoilt coast. The voyage invites you to take an active part in sailing the ship, yet leaves just as much room simply to enjoy the calm summer light of the Baltic. It suits guests who wish to combine a maritime atmosphere, medieval cities and nature in a single trip.
In the harbour of Tallinn the crew welcomes you aboard in the evening, and over a shared dinner you meet the crew and your fellow travellers. Soon after casting off, the medieval silhouette of Tallinn falls astern: pointed church spires, the old city wall and the modern harbour form the backdrop to the first nautical miles, while offshore islets and sandy beaches slip past.
Heading south, the cruising ground opens onto flat beach landscapes, dunes and areas of forest. By way of the Estonian island of Saaremaa with its beaches, the course follows lonely stretches of coast where, now and then, a lighthouse, a fishing village or a cargo ship appears in the distance. Weather permitting, there is time for a walk along the beach or a swim in the Baltic, and a night at anchor out at sea may be planned. At last the Latvian coast rises on the horizon: at the mouth of the Daugava (Düna), the approach leads past harbour installations, beaches and green riverbanks into Riga, the cultural centre of the Baltic.
Included: 7 nights in a comfortable double cabin with running hot and cold water, shower and WC; full board (all meals plus water, coffee and tea); bed linen, towels and air conditioning; saloon with ship’s library.
Not included: travel to and from the embarkation and disembarkation ports; shore excursions; soft drinks and alcoholic beverages.

How the route could go:
-
Tallinn · Embarkation
Tallinn has the best-preserved medieval old town in Northern Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Toompea Hill with its knights' houses and panoramic terraces overlooks the lower town with the medieval Town Hall Square, Hanseatic merchant houses and the 14th-century Oleviste Tower.
-
Saaremaa
Saaremaa is Estonia's largest island and preserves ancient island culture like hardly any other place in the Baltic. The capital Kuressaare on the south coast is dominated by the Bishop's Castle (14th century) - one of the best-preserved medieval castles in Northern Europe. Juniper heaths, thatched-roof houses, a meteorite crater (Kaali) and the healing muds famous for its spa baths make Saaremaa a quiet Baltic island beauty.
-
Riga · Disembarkation
Riga is home to the world's largest collection of Art Nouveau architecture - over 700 buildings shape the centre. The Old Town (UNESCO World Heritage) with the House of the Blackheads, the Cathedral and the Powder Tower, combined with the lively market hall in the former Zeppelin hangars, make Riga the most culturally rich Baltic city.
The route of a sailing voyage may change without giving rise to mutual claims.
