  • Currimao: A Luzon harbour town and gateway to the Spanish-colonial architecture of Vigan.
  • Corregidor Island and Manila: A Second World War fortress island and the Philippine capital with Intramuros.
  • Coron and Puerto Princesa: Palawan islands with wreck diving and the UNESCO-listed underground river.
  • Balabac: A remote island archipelago in south-western Palawan with sand bars.

  • Keelung (Chilung) · Embarkation

Keelung is a major port city in northern Taiwan and the gateway to Taipei. The bustling Miaokou night market and the nearby Yehliu Geopark with its bizarre rock formations are popular sights.

  • At sea
  • Currimao (Luzon)

Currimao is a small coastal municipality in Ilocos Norte province in the north-west of the Philippine island of Luzon. The unusual sandstone cliffs at Maira-Ira beach and the Pangil rock with its natural arched window count among the region's most striking geological sights.

  • Insel Corregidor
  • Manila

Manila is the capital of the Philippines and one of the oldest European-influenced cities in Asia. The Spanish colonial quarter of Intramuros, the historic Fort Santiago and the bustling markets of Quiapo define the city.

  • Coron, Palawan

Coron sits on Busuanga Island in the northern Palawan region of the Philippines, framed by the dramatic limestone formations of nearby Coron Island. The bay is the launch point for dives to around a dozen Japanese Second World War wrecks sunk here in 1944 by US carrier aircraft.

  • Puerto Princesa, Palawan

On Honda Bay on the east coast of the narrow Philippine island of Palawan, this provincial capital is the most important maritime and logistical centre of the island archipelago. It serves as the launching point for the UNESCO World Heritage Subterranean River and the countless coral reefs offshore.

  • Balabac-Inseln
  • Muara

On the northern coast of Borneo, Muara is Brunei's main seaport on the South China Sea. The deepwater harbour east of the capital Bandar Seri Begawan serves both container ships and cruises on Borneo itineraries; from here visitors reach the stilt villages of Kampong Ayer and the Istana Nurul Iman royal palace complex.

  • Bintulu, Sarawak

Bintulu lies on the north coast of the Malaysian part of Borneo in the state of Sarawak and is the centre of Malaysia's liquefied natural gas industry. From here the Niah Caves with 40,000-year-old human remains and Similajau National Park with proboscis monkeys and sandy beaches are accessible.

  • Kuching, Sarawak

Capital of the Malaysian state of Sarawak in the west of Borneo, set picturesquely along the Sarawak River. Gateway to Bako and Gunung Mulu National Parks and to the orangutan sanctuaries of Semenggoh.
