Aegean & Greek Islands from/to Athens
Seven nights as a round trip from Athens are dedicated to the musical traditions of Greece, from Minoan Crete to the Cyclades. Le Champlain links the caldera of Santorini with the medieval town of Rhodes and holy Delos, while an onboard musical programme accompanies the route. The marina, Zodiacs and the Blue Eye underwater lounge open the Greek islands from the water. 184 guests, premium all-inclusive, a voyage between sound and myth.
Route highlights
- Athens (Lavrion): Acropolis and Parthenon, the classic opening of any Aegean voyage.
- Heraklion: Gateway to the Minoan palace of Knossos, Europe's oldest centre of high civilisation, with origins dating back to around 1900 BC.
- Santorini caldera: At anchor inside the volcanic crater formed by the Minoan eruption around 1620 BC, with Oia perched high above the cliffs.
- Rhodes: UNESCO medieval town from the era of the Knights of St John, 1309 to 1522.
- Amorgos: A steep Cycladic isle with the Panagia Hozoviotissa monastery glued to the cliff.
- Delos: Uninhabited island, ancient sanctuary of Apollo and birthplace of the gods Apollo and Artemis.
- Mykonos: Windmills above Little Venice and the white-and-blue postcard image of the Cyclades.

Heraklion, Kreta
Heraklion is the gateway to the Palace of Knossos - the largest Minoan palace complex in the world, dating from the 2nd millennium BC. The Heraklion Archaeological Museum holds the most important collection of Minoan art worldwide. Crete also boasts the Samaria Gorge, one of Europe's most impressive hiking trails.
-
Santorini
Santorini - properly Thira - sits on the rim of an extinct volcanic crater. The white houses of Fira and Oia with their blue domes, the breathtaking view into the caldera and the deep-black volcanic sand of its beaches make this one of the most iconic destinations in the Mediterranean.
-
Rhodos
Rhodes is the sun-island of Greek antiquity. The Old Town of Rhodes Town (UNESCO) with its Knights of St John buildings, the Lindos acropolis high above the Mediterranean and the Petaloudes butterfly valley make Rhodes the most historically layered island of the Aegean.
-
Bodrum
Bodrum (ancient Halicarnassus) was the site of one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World (the Mausoleum). Today the town is Turkey's most stylish yachting destination, with whitewashed hotels, a Cycladic-feeling old town and the Crusader castle on the harbour.
-
Delos
Delos is one of the most sacred sites of antiquity: in Greek mythology the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, and once the religious and commercial centre of the Aegean. Today the uninhabited island is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a unique open-air archaeological park.
-
Mykonos
Mykonos is the most international of the Greek islands - whitewashed cube houses, blue domes, windmills and a nightlife that lasts until morning. Little Venice with its captains' balconies right above the sea is one of the most photographed scenes in Greece.
-
Hydra
Hydra is one of the few islands in the world without cars - donkeys, muleteers and water taxis are the only forms of transport. The historic harbour town of whitewashed captains' houses was one of the most important trading centres of the Aegean in the 19th century.
