Silver Wind Expedition · Antarktis

Antarctic Voyage of Discovery across Wondrous Seas

18 nights · 7. November - 25. November 2026 · Puerto Williams → Puerto Williams

Discover the voyage

Eighteen nights round trip from Puerto Williams give Silver Wind time to include both the Antarctic Peninsula and remote subantarctic landings. The long timeframe allows waiting for optimal ice and weather windows and deeper exploration of individual bays. Humpback whales, gentoo penguins and crabeater seals dominate the wildlife encounters, complemented by long sea days with a lecture programme. Silver Wind Expedition is ice-strengthened to 1A Super and works in small Zodiac groups under IAATO standards.

Leg 1 · Sat, 07.11. · Embarkation

Puerto Williams

DSC2419-Edit

Puerto Williams on Navarino Island is considered the southernmost town in the world and sits on the Beagle Channel with views of the Cordillera Darwin. The small Chilean town is a starting point for tours to Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn.

Leg 2 · Mon, 09.11.

West Point Island

SMA Ski

West Point Island in the Falklands is known for the joint nesting colony of Rockhopper penguins and Black-browed albatross - two species that breed close together and show little shyness towards visitors.

Leg 3 · Mon, 09.11.

Saunders Island

Saunders Island in the Falklands hosts four penguin species on a single island: Magellanic, Gentoo, Rockhopper and King penguins. The historic farmhouse and dramatic cliffs make Saunders one of the most varied Falkland stops.

Leg 4 · Tue, 10.11.

Port Stanley

Port Stanley (Stanley) is the capital of the Falkland Islands. Historic shipwrecks in the harbour, the Falklands War memorial of 1982 and the colourful corrugated-iron houses are all part of the picture of this remote British enclave.

Leg 5 · Fri, 13.11.

South Georgia

South Georgia is regarded as the most spectacular wildlife destination in the world. More than 100,000 king penguins nest in a single meadow at Salisbury Plain; fur seals and elephant seals occupy the beaches; wandering albatrosses breed on the slopes. Ernest Shackleton's grave at Grytviken is a must-see pilgrimage.

Leg 6 · Wed, 18.11.

Elephant Island

Elephant Island is the destination of Shackleton's legendary 1916 voyage: after the Endurance was crushed and sank in the ice, his crew reached this bleak rocky island in open lifeboats. Point Wild, where the men waited for 105 days, is one of the most moving sites in expedition history.

Leg 7 · Thu, 19.11.

Antarctic Sound

The Antarctic Sound opens the view onto the Antarctic Peninsula and is known for vast tabular icebergs drifting from here into the Atlantic. Whales, seals and penguin colonies are ever-present in this icy landscape.

Leg 8 · Fri, 20.11.

Antarctic Peninsula

The Antarctic Peninsula is the heart of every Antarctic voyage: glaciers calve directly into the sea, humpback whales swim between drifting ice floes, penguin colonies of tens of thousands populate the rocky shores. Zodiac excursions take you right up to ice walls and sleeping seals.

Leg 9 · Sun, 22.11.

South Shetland Islands

The South Shetland Islands are an Antarctic archipelago with active volcanism, vast penguin colonies and international research stations. Deception Island with its volcanic crater harbour is one of the most impressive landings in Antarctica.

Leg 10 · Sat, 07.11.

Puerto Williams

Puerto Williams on Navarino Island is considered the southernmost town in the world and sits on the Beagle Channel with views of the Cordillera Darwin. The small Chilean town is a starting point for tours to Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn.
