Athen (Piräus)

Nea Marina

Few arrivals set the tone for Greece quite like the approach into Piraeus, the maritime gateway to Athens since antiquity and today one of the largest passenger harbours in Europe. Above the city the Acropolis has stood for some 2,500 years, crowned by the Parthenon, which Pericles raised in the 5th century BC as the perfect temple of the Classical age.

Leg 2 · Sun, 07.05.

Milos

Vibrant fishing village of Klima with white houses and colorful doors on Milos Island in Greece

Milos owes its shape to its volcanic past, and the evidence is everywhere: at Sarakiniko, wind and water have polished the rock into a moon-white landscape unlike anywhere else in the Aegean. In 1820 a farmer here unearthed the Aphrodite of Milos, known the world over as the Venus de Milo and now in the Louvre.

Leg 3 · Mon, 08.05.

Nafplio

Old houses in the narrow streets of Nafplion town with Bougainvillea flowers

Nafplio was the first capital of independent Greece from 1827 to 1834, and remains one of the country's most elegant towns. Above the old quarter stands the Venetian fortress of Palamidi, reached by a famous flight of steps, while out in the harbour the little island castle of Bourtzi lies at anchor like a ship of stone.

Leg 4 · Wed, 10.05.

Valletta

Malta fireworks festival in Valletta. Concept travel. Aerial photo

The capital of Malta is one of the smallest yet richest capitals in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage baroque city, it has more museums and churches per square kilometre than any other city; Grand Harbour is one of the finest natural harbours in the Mediterranean.

Leg 5 · Thu, 11.05.

Lipari

Adobe 284844242

Lipari is the largest of the Aeolian Islands and the administrative seat. The ancient acropolis with the Archaeological Museum (one of the finest in the Mediterranean) and the pumice quarries in the north, which colour the sea chalk-white, are highlights.

Leg 6 · Fri, 12.05.

Agropoli

Adria – türkise Bucht an der dalmatinischen Küste

Agropoli sits on Italy's Cilento coast south of Salerno, crowned by a medieval old town and castle overlooking the harbour. The ancient temples of Paestum are within easy reach.

Leg 7 · Sun, 14.05.

Livorno

Ibiza Bucht

Livorno is the port for Florence and Pisa. Excursions lead to Florence (80 km) with the Uffizi, the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio - capital of the Renaissance; or to Pisa with the famous Leaning Tower on the Field of Miracles (Campo dei Miracoli).

Leg 8 · Tue, 16.05. · Disembarkation

Nice

Klippen mit türkisfarbener Grotte im Mittelmeer

Nice offers the Cours Saleya with one of the finest flower markets in France and the Promenade des Anglais, where the Belle Époque feel is still tangible. Excursions reach Monaco in minutes, or the hilltop villages of the Côte d'Azur such as Eze and Gourdon.
