South Africa's second-largest city on the Atlantic, framed by the flat plateau of Table Mountain and the rocky Lion's Head. The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, the Cape of Good Hope and the wine estates inland define the experience.
On the Garden Route on South Africa's southern coast lies Mossel Bay in the Western Cape province on the Indian Ocean. In 1488 Portuguese navigator Bartolomeu Dias became the first European to land in the bay, an event documented in detail at the Bartolomeu Dias Museum with a faithful 1980s caravel replica.

Port Elizabeth on Bequia (Grenadines) is the most charming Caribbean harbour for yachts. The small bay with wooden schooner boatyards on the beach, the turtle conservation programme and the whaling tradition make Port Elizabeth unique.
On the east coast of South Africa in KwaZulu-Natal on a large natural lagoon, this port is the southern hemisphere's largest coal-export harbour. The iSimangaliso Wetland Park UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi rhino reserve lie close at hand.

On the wind-exposed north-west coast of the French Indian Ocean island of La Réunion, Le Port is the island's only deep-water harbour. Behind the container port rise the spectacular volcanic mountains of Piton des Neiges with its three vast calderas of Mafate, Cilaos and Salazie.
Port Louis, capital of Mauritius, combines Creole, Indian, Chinese and European cultures in the smallest of spaces. The Central Market, Le Caudan Waterfront and the Blue Penny Museum with the world's most valuable stamp lie in the harbour quarter; excursions lead to the Chamarel Coloured Earth and the waterfalls of the interior.

Mahé is the main island of the Seychelles, with the Morne Seychellois nature park, Anse Source d'Argent - often voted the most beautiful beach in the world - and the Victoria Botanical Garden with giant Aldabra tortoises. The granite rock formations of the Seychelles are unique worldwide.
