A Discovery Voyage through the Galápagos Islands

7 nights · 9. January - 16. January 2027 · San Cristóbal → San Cristóbal

Discover the voyage

West of mainland Ecuador in the Pacific lies the Galápagos archipelago, a UNESCO World Heritage site of volcanic origin and the setting for Darwin's evolutionary observations. The Silver Origin, carrying just 100 guests, is the only Silversea ship dedicated exclusively to these waters, with its own naturalist team and a Zodiac fleet for daily landings. The seven-night round trip from San Cristóbal follows the western island arc, combining volcanic landscapes, endemic wildlife and snorkelling bays.

Leg 1 · Sat, 09.01. · Embarkation

San Cristóbal

Galápagos - Meerechsen am Strand

San Cristóbal is the oldest inhabited island in the Galápagos and home to the capital Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. First encounters with the Galápagos ecosystem: curious sea lions on the jetties, blue-footed boobies and giant tortoises in the national park.

Leg 2 · Sat, 09.01.

Kicker Rock

Galapagos 39

Kicker Rock (León Dormido) is a split volcanic cone rising from the sea near San Cristóbal. Hammerhead sharks, sea lions, Galápagos turtles and rays swim through the channel between the rocks - a diver's paradise.

Leg 3 · Sun, 10.01.

Isla Bartolome

Galapagos 24

Bartolomé is the most photographed island in the Galápagos: Pinnacle Rock - a basalt spike rising from the sea - is the archipelago's iconic motif. Galápagos penguins, hammerhead sharks and sea turtles populate the waters.

Leg 4 · Sun, 10.01.

Buccaneer Cove (Santiago)

Atlantik – Sandstrand auf den Kapverden

This sheltered bay on the north-western coast of Santiago in the Galápagos once served buccaneers and whalers as an anchorage. Rust-red tuff cliffs and striking rock pinnacles line the shore, where sea lions, marine iguanas and seabirds gather.

Leg 5 · Mon, 11.01.

Punta Vicente Roca (Isabela)

Punta Vicente Roca lies at the northern tip of Isabela and offers dramatic cliffs with caves where blue-footed boobies nest. In the clear water below swim Galápagos penguins, sea lions and hammerhead sharks.

Leg 6 · Mon, 11.01.

Bolivar Canal Cruising

The Bolívar Channel between Isabela and Fernandina is one of the most biodiverse stretches of sea in the Galápagos. During the passage, whales, dolphin pods, Galápagos penguins and seabirds can be observed - one of the Pacific's most striking ship transits.

Leg 7 · Mon, 11.01.

Punta Espinoza (Fernandina)

This headland on Fernandina, the youngest and most volcanically active island in the Galápagos, hosts one of the largest colonies of marine iguanas on earth. Across the black lava fields rises the La Cumbre volcano, and flightless cormorants, Galápagos penguins and sea lions share the shore.

Leg 8 · Tue, 12.01.

Tagus Cove (Isabela)

Tagus Cove was for centuries a resting and watering place for whalers and pirates. Historic inscriptions on the lava rocks and a saltwater lake in the extinct volcanic crater make this place unique in Galápagos history.

Leg 9 · Tue, 12.01.

Elizabeth Bay (Isabela)

Elizabeth Bay is a quiet, mangrove-fringed inlet on the west coast of Isabela. Galápagos penguins nest here in the lava caves, and manta rays and turtles glide through the crystal-clear water.

Leg 10 · Wed, 13.01.

Post Office Bay (Floreana)

Post Office Bay holds a historic wooden-barrel mailbox from the 18th century. Today, ship passengers leave postcards and take with them any addressed to their home regions - a charming seafaring tradition that goes back to the whaling era.

Leg 11 · Wed, 13.01.

Champion Islet (Floreana)

Champion Islet off Floreana (Galápagos) is one of the last remaining homes of the Floreana mockingbird - a species Charles Darwin encountered on Floreana itself, where it has since gone extinct. Snorkelling and diving around the rocky island are first-class.

Leg 12 · Wed, 13.01.

Punta Cormorant (Floreana)

Punta Cormorant offers a green-shimmering olivine sand beach and flamingos in a brackish lagoon behind it. The name is misleading: there are hardly any cormorants here - but endemic giant tortoises of the Floreana subspecies.

Leg 13 · Thu, 14.01.

Santa Cruz Highlands

The Santa Cruz Highlands are home to the El Chato tortoise reserve and free-ranging giant tortoises in their natural habitat. The lava tunnels - underground caves formed by lava flow - can be explored on foot. In the rainy season the highlands stay lush and green.

Leg 14 · Thu, 14.01.

Fausto Llerena Breeding Center, Puerto Ayora (Santa Cruz)

The Fausto Llerena Breeding Center (formerly the Charles Darwin Research Center) in Puerto Ayora is the world's most important breeding station for Galápagos giant tortoises. Many subspecies were saved from extinction here; the famous "Lonesome George" (last Pinta tortoise) lived here until his death in 2012.

Leg 15 · Fri, 15.01.

Cerro Dragon (Santa Cruz)

Cerro Dragon (Dragon Hill) on Santa Cruz is a nesting area for endemic Galápagos land iguanas. The orange-yellow creatures can be watched feeding on cactus flowers - an intimate glimpse of the resilient wildlife of the Galápagos lava fields.

Leg 16 · Fri, 15.01.

Isla Guy Fawkes

Isla Guy Fawkes is a group of small rocky islets north-west of Santa Cruz, known for its abundant sea lion colonies. The name dates back to the British buccaneer era. Snorkelling here allows encounters with hammerhead sharks and rays.

Leg 17 · Sat, 09.01.

San Cristóbal

San Cristóbal is the oldest inhabited island in the Galápagos and home to the capital Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. First encounters with the Galápagos ecosystem: curious sea lions on the jetties, blue-footed boobies and giant tortoises in the national park.
