Athen (Piraeus)

Nea Marina

Few arrivals set the tone for Greece quite like the approach into Piraeus, the maritime gateway to Athens since antiquity and today one of the largest passenger harbours in Europe. Above the city the Acropolis has stood for some 2,500 years, crowned by the Parthenon, which Pericles raised in the 5th century BC as the perfect temple of the Classical age.

Leg 2 · Mon, 26.04.

Gythion

Ios

Gythion (Gythio) on the Mani peninsula of the Peloponnese once served as Sparta's port. The picturesque pastel-coloured houses along the harbour, the islet of Cranae (mythological love nest of Paris and Helen before their flight to Troy) and the Cycladic atmosphere make Gythion an unsung beauty of southern Greece.

Leg 3 · Tue, 27.04.

Katakolon (Olympia)

One of the most beautiful islands of Greece - Paxos, view of Lakka bay

Small harbour on the west coast of Greece's Peloponnese peninsula in the region of Elis. From here, ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games with its Temple of Zeus, is just half an hour away.

Leg 4 · Thu, 29.04.

Kotor

Adria – türkise Bucht an der dalmatinischen Küste

At the end of one of the longest fjords in the Adriatic lies Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The fully preserved Venetian city walls and the panoramic view from the Fortress of San Giovanni over the Bay of Kotor are among the most impressive experiences in the Mediterranean.

Leg 5 · Fri, 30.04.

Bari

Polignano a Mare (BA, Italy): heaven on earth

Bari is the capital of Apulia on Italy's Adriatic coast. The old town of Bari Vecchia, the orecchiette pasta makers in front of their doorsteps and the Basilica of San Nicola (a pilgrimage site for Orthodox Christians from around the world) make Bari authentic.

Leg 6 · Sat, 01.05.

Dubrovnik

Aerial view of Dubrovnik, Croatia

The "Pearl of the Adriatic" is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cityscapes and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979. The mighty 13th-century city walls can be walked all the way round - offering panoramic views of the Adriatic and the Dalmatian islands.

Leg 7 · Sun, 02.05.

Hvar

Die Uferpromenade der Stadt Hvar

Lavender fields, Venetian town architecture, crystal-clear water: Hvar is regarded as one of the loveliest islands in the Adriatic. Hvar's Old Town is the best-preserved Venetian-influenced town in Croatia.

Leg 8 · Mon, 03.05.

Zadar

Der Hafen von Zadar im berühmten Abendlicht

Zadar on the Croatian Adriatic coast has Roman roots. The Sea Organ (waves create music through built-in pipes) and the "Greeting to the Sun" (300 solar-powered glass panels) at the waterfront are modern art installations of world renown.

Leg 9 · Tue, 04.05.

Piran

Piran

This small Slovenian port on the Adriatic showcases a remarkably intact Venetian architecture with its narrow lanes, Tartini Square and town walls. Salt pans and olive groves shape the surrounding Istrian hinterland.

Leg 10 · Wed, 05.05. · Disembarkation

Fusina (Venedig)

Italien, venedig, Markusplatz

Built on 118 islands and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 - Venice is a masterpiece of human ingenuity. The Grand Canal, palazzo facades, gondoliers and the view from St Mark's Square across the lagoon are among the most iconic images in Europe.
