Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand is known for white palm-fringed beaches, coconut plantations and the landmark Big Buddha. The green island is one of the country's most popular destinations.
Laem Chabang is Thailand's main deep-sea port on the Gulf of Thailand, about 130 kilometres south-east of Bangkok. Transfer coaches run from here to the capital with its Grand Palace and Wat Pho, home to the 46-metre Reclining Buddha.
