Nyhavn - the colourful harbour row - Christiansborg Palace, and the kitchen that brought New Nordic Cuisine to the world: Copenhagen is one of the most liveable cities anywhere. Kronborg, the model for Shakespeare's Hamlet residence, lies one hour away.

Leg 2 · Sun, 30.08.

Bergen

Fjord in Nordeuropa

Bergen is the gateway to Norway's fjords. The colourful wooden houses of Bryggen on the harbour (UNESCO) tell of the Hanseatic era; Mount Fløyen with its funicular offers panoramic views over the seven-hill city.

Leg 3 · Mon, 31.08.

Ålesund

Northern Lights Beach

Ålesund on Norway's west coast is the Art Nouveau city par excellence. Completely rebuilt in just three years after a great fire in 1904, Ålesund is regarded today as a unique architectural ensemble - with views from Aksla Hill over the tangle of islands.

Leg 4 · Tue, 01.09.

Trondheim

Hiddensee-Dornbusch-3

Trondheim sits on the Trondheim Fjord and is Norway's third-largest city, with around 210,000 inhabitants. The Gothic Nidaros Cathedral above the tomb of Saint Olav is regarded as the national shrine.

Leg 5 · Wed, 02.09.

Åndalsnes

Åndalsnes sits at the head of the Romsdalsfjord in Norway's Romsdal region. The small town is the starting point for hikes to the 1,100-metre sheer Troll Wall and the winding Trollstigen mountain road.

Leg 6 · Thu, 03.09.

Olden

Olden lies at the inner end of the Nordfjord in western Norway, framed by tall mountains and the glacier tongues of the Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier on mainland Europe. It is a popular starting point for excursions to the turquoise Briksdalsbreen glacier lake, which has retreated significantly in recent decades due to global warming.

Leg 7 · Fri, 04.09.

Vik

Grönland – Treibende Eisberge

Vik i Myrdal is the southernmost village on the Icelandic mainland and lies on a black volcanic sand beach. The striking Reynisdrangar sea stacks and the nearby Reynisfjara beach define the dramatic landscape.

Leg 8 · Sun, 06.09.

Skagen

Dänemark Marstal

Skagen lies at the northern tip of Jutland, where the North Sea and the Baltic visibly meet. The fishing and artists' town with its yellow houses became world-famous in the 19th century thanks to the Skagen Painters.

Leg 9 · Fri, 28.08.
