Broome lies on Roebuck Bay in northern Western Australia and was the world's pearl-diving capital in the 19th century. It is famed for the 22-kilometre Cable Beach with sunset camel rides and the Staircase to the Moon phenomenon, when low tide makes the moon appear to paint stairs across the mudflats.
The Buccaneer Archipelago comprises around 800 islands off the Kimberley coast in north-western Australia, lying within King Sound where tides rise up to eleven metres. The Horizontal Falls, a tidal flow forced through two narrow rock clefts, were dubbed by Sir David Attenborough as the eighth wonder of the world.
The Hunter River winds through the rugged Kimberley coast of north-western Australia. Mangrove-lined tidal creeks, red sandstone cliffs, saltwater crocodiles and abundant birdlife define this remote wilderness.
Ashmore Reef is a coral reef in Australia's external territory of Ashmore and Cartier Islands in the Indian Ocean. The 583-square-kilometre marine sanctuary harbours 433 coral species and serves as a nesting site for sea turtles, with traditional fishing rights granted to Indonesian fishermen.
